Chinook what is the story to this bad ass pic

So how does the engine failure scenerio work in a chinook? If one goes out you are just screwed?

That is a "mainmount" or a "piniacle" landing

Basicly the pilot is still hovering, but has touched the aft wheels on that roof top.

Engine failure in a tandam rotor helo isn't a big problem, both engines drive the transmitons which turn the rotors. Therefore you just lose power, but not controll.

Same deal on the V-22.

Failure of a tranny, however is a whole nother story.

In the CH-46 the foward tranny had a shear point so that in theory the blades could continue spinning if the gearbox froze. A failure of the aft tranny would be catastrophic and isn't recoverable.
