Odd Flying Habits

When on the phone and trying to spell things to someone I use the phonetic alphabet. But they never understand and it's back to A as in Apple...
My wife picked up the phonetic alphabet from me, she uses it exclusively at work.

Am I the only one who has the urge to say "stand by" every time I pull up to a fast food drive-through and they say "What can I get for you today?"

I literally say that all the time. Not just at the drive through either. Along with "wilco", "roger", and "affirmative/negative". I've genuinely been surprised by how few people know what "wilco" means. I thought every 10 yr old with a set of walkie talkies and a plastic army helmet knew it.

Is this Canada? Decimal drives me nuts in EASAland, 3 syllables when 1 would do. Position and hold was better too...

I was riffing on the people who use like ... over-the-top standardized phraseology, and then drop a grotesque error in there like 'oh' instead of 'zero.'
