Question emailed from Army 1SG

Top, the so called specialist at the VA are often just as confused if not more so than the peoplle calling with questions. Take anything they say with a grain of salt unless you see it in writing. I'm glad they updated it for the better but it is still constantly evolving as they work out the kinks.

Yes, THIS.

Under the pre-9/11 GI Bill, I went through a part 141 program. I was reimbursed about $14,000.

Later, when they were reviewing records, they sent me a bill for overpayment.

Since GI Bill payments for flight training are based on a percentage of the total cost of the program, not the monthly rate for a full time traditional student, they thought they overpaid me... by about $6000 or so.

Fixing THAT mess was fun... and yes, *I* was the one who had to determine the mistake had been made.

Expect further confusion as this new GI Bill evolves.
