Hiking on Saturday

Okay, folks. I need to do some planning for this. I need to know who wants to go so that I can figure out how we will get to Red Rock. I figure we will want to get there early, because do you really want to be hiking in the desert at high noon? I say plan for an 8:00 AM departure.

There goes half the crew. Those of you who still want to go, let me know here. I'll figure out what to do as far as a car/SUV/minivan/van goes depending on how many people want in.

Also, since we will have to rent a vehicle, I'm going to ask everyone who goes in on the trip to split the cost. That way I don't end up paying $100 for a van for one day.

it'll take about an hour to get out to redrock.. might want to plan on being out there by no later than 9.. hike for 2 hrs, back by 12!! also might want to look up some trail maps and find out where the trail heads are...

That's exactly my plan! I've got some trail maps as well. Depending on how people feel, we can opt for easy, moderate, or difficult trails. Or we can all split up and meet back at a designated pick up area.

hahaha.. funny! of course.. there are some who stay up all night in vegas, others who stay up all day and even other people who stay up all day and night /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif....

heck yeah i ll be there.

I wouldnt mind it being 5:00AM (what can I say I'm a montana boy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif)

Hey Rausda....

Did you get ahold of Barbary Mike yet to let him know we'll be in town? I've tried contacting him, but he doesn't call back and I don't have an email address for him...Doug and I would really like it if he could just us all for a night of fun - whether friday or saturday!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I told Mike we were coming. He has to work Fri and Sat night but perhaps we can swing by and say hello.

we could always have him meet us on saturday afternoon for lunch or something then? I'd hate to swing by barbary, ask him for coupons again and not give something back to him for being so kewl to us! KWIM???

he probably has a clause or what not, that he can't go into other casinos and gamble right?

Kell, how far along will she be at that time? I think tony will only allow that if she has enuff water (more than the typical person) on her that she doesn't dehydrate since she's expecting...

Well, according to the nurse, she's about 11 weeks. That's doing the super accurate "first day of last period, minus three months, plus seven days." We're thinking she's probably a couple weeks shy of that mark right now.

Hmmm. That means that by the time the event rolls around she'll be looking at about 15 weeks, or almost four months.

I'm not a doctor, but isn't that pretty far along for someone to be hiking in the desert?

Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to have you both with us, but I want to make sure it's medically safe.

and that's just the thing to... the desert can be really dry and exhausting.. i know when my sister came out (she was bout 5 months, barely showing) and she would get pretty winded pretty quickly...

I think it'd be great to keep up her excercise habits and even if she goes for a half hour, it'd be good for her...the only way I would allow it, is if her feet & back aren't hurting at all and if she or someone carries a good jug of water for her... and she has to wear a hat! hats are madatory!! even if it seems cool, the sun's a burnin...

plus, i'd hate for her to get too tired that she can't join us girls at the event saturday afternoon....

just something to think about....it's ultimately her choice based on how she's feeling at the time! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm 11 weeks right now, and there's no way I'm going hiking in the freakin' desert! I'll be down in the lobby to wave 'bye-bye' to y'all, then I'll go back to bed.

(Of course, I'm exceptionally lazy, and I hate heat. So pregnant or not, hiking in the desert probably isn't for me......)

We're going to get along just fine, Amber. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bandit.gif

I just got off the phone with my sister about something else, and she said, if Nessa's up for it, it will be just fine. My sister cracks me up. She was like, Tony, pregnant women are not fragile little dolls that you put in a glass case.

This came after a big sigh that would have put Al Gore to shame.

Talk about putting someone in his place! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

BTW, back to the topic on hand. I just need a head count. Don't worry, if you decide the night before that you know what, Tony, I am going to be feeling way too much pain to go and play in the desert tomorrow morning, that's cool. I just need a head count so that I can think about what kind of vehicle we'll need.

Can you folks let me know if you're in by no later than my birthday (Labor Day!) Consider it an easy and cheap birthday present.

Well, you can probably at least count me in (unless MikeD convinces me to go out on an all night binge). Nessa said she may or may not go, but I could still go. If she doesn't go, she can just hang in the lobby with Amber. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
