Helicopter v. hangar door

@MikeD Very good and interesting write up!

Being a fixed wing guy that has taken one intro lesson in a Schweizer 269 , geez it was an eye opener. And i'm used to flying light weight Cessna 152's where the flick of the wrist and the plane responds.....but being in that helicopter.....just thinking about moving the cyclic translates to aircraft movement.

But I agree Mike.....it does certainly have its own language and feel.
And I certainly know that with all of my 0.6 in the rotorcraft.....I'd need WAY WAY MORE experience to build that confidence up.
 
It also sounds like the stall horn is going off when they first walk up to the remnants of what used to be a perfectly good R-44.

It's not a stall horn, but a possibly a low rotor speed horn. I'm not rotorcraft rated, so don't quote me on that.
