In about 6-7 months... by July we should all be thawed out.
And I hope to see you at the Badlands SCCA autocross events coming up
...you think you might be interested? Hopefully we'll have an ice autocross this February on Devil's Lake, but with the weather being warmer than average I'm not sure.

I think the break fluid on my car was frozen today or something with my breaks are messed up.
I got into my car and it took a couple seconds to start since I do not have a starter, but I noticed my breaks were basically useless and just over all not as affective in the cold weather until my car got warmed up.

I plan on taking the grandma mobile to that, so I better see that srt-4 there. I love those cars!
Jason, are there any restrictions to the types of cars the allow to race, or the type of tire you run? If it's snow, all seasons will do fine. To get around the track without sliding in some random direction for 6 miles at least.
If it's glare ice, I don't think that would work out very well. haha

Yeah, get the more heavy duty batter rated for your car. I've got 700 cranking amps at 0 degrees, so my car didn't complain at all. The shocks did though. That car handles pretty good when the suspension doesn't flex much.
Get the proper oil if you haven't already. I run 5w20 in my car in the winter. That depends on the car though.My brakes behave differently too. They drag on the rotors a little more than usual. That's just because the piston seal is stiffer from the cold I'm sure.

I am not exactly sure what the SCCA rules are for ice autox, but there are categories for studded and non-studded snow tires, along with the usual car categories. I'm not sure how it works. The last ice autocross was cancelled
I'm hoping we'll have a chance for one this year....and here's a nice pic of an ice autocross... yeeeeeeeeeehhhhhaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! :insane:

Do they have anything against purposely drifting? Because I plan on filling up the gas tank and thowing a tool box, and a bunch of other heavy things in the trunk to get some wicked lift oversteer action. Oh but there's that thing where they make you empty out your car. Oh well, maybe a full gas tank will suffice.

Yeah, my car was doing that too. Was it just wining really loud and barely working? A few quick turns to full lock usually fixes that with my car. Do that while rolling though, ball joints don't like that.

My car does okay, but I can just imagine the metal to metal contact without proper distribution of oil during cold weather starts

All I got from this is that I need to get a different type of oil.
You want to know what I hate?
Rushing from Bek to Witmer every day in this cold. It takes me like 10 minutes every day to walk over there.
What sucks even more is when I have to go to Witmer for Math, and then go to Odegard, then back to Witmer for physics with only 10 minutes allowed between classes. Hows that suppose to work?
