In-house Delta Job Fair, October 20/21 2017

Yes.

The "elevator pitch" isn't specifically a career fair skill, but a networking skill.

Be able to introduce yourself, tell a person who you are, what you're after and make it actionable. SOOOOOO many people run into someone that could help them and literally treat it like Pokémon.

"HI I'm Frank, can I have a business card?" And then 12 hours later you get a random email from a person you don't remember with a LOR request from airline apps

Doug, I try to send a short email to the recruiter after a face to face at conferences, never asking for a LOR, just a simple thank you. Your statement above has me wondering if this is a bad idea in the future?

And eventually those high school players are forced to accept that they peaked far too early and will never turn pro; they take a jobs at Best Buy, frustrated, selling TV's to their classmates, watching as their jr teammates play on the 60 inch flatscreen on the display wall.

....and after spending all that time, wind up buying the TV from Amazon or Newegg anyway....

This whole thread reminds me of the surprise young folks get when someone winds up pregnant. "Well, you were doing the ONLY thing that can possibly get you that way, so what did you expect?"

"Immaculate conception", I suppose, is always another answer, which has the same odds as someone getting hired without a degree.

So you're saying there's a chance?

Question for @Derg; I'd like to go but have attended a job fair within the past year and had my app "looked at" according to a friend on property.
Will the slot be wasted on me?

Truth be told, your friend doesn't have that information.

When was your last job fair?

NGPA this year. He wrote me a letter of rec and got an email response to its submission saying something to that effect. Thanks for the help, I was scouring the FB page and couldn't find anyone in the same situation.

He's got somewhat of a point. I have to say, of the oddballs I've flown with the one thing in common was no college degree. Usually them ripping on Delta hiring is a good giveway and when I ask them what their degree is in, the answer explains it. Though we've adopted the same 4-yr degree requirement so Delta and Fedex aren't the only ones.

It'd be one thing if Delta arbitrarily added the degree requirement recently, but its been a requirement for Delta since dinosaurs walked the earth. To expect Delta to lower their requirements to accommodate your personal resume is telling.

That wasn't what I or @Acrofox was responding too. It was the ridiculous held believe by some that degreed pilots, as a whole possess better flying ability/skills. Verses the non degreed.

For them it's more of a beotching session. I've gotten pretty good at giving them all ears and listen to their woes. :D
