It's really not. You get hired with the expectation that you will pass training and upgrade to dispatcher asap. The assistant position is really "dispatcher in training"

It is yes but the alternative is also very long as well. the amount of applicants with the experience some of them have externally trying to get in. I always hope everyone gets what they want but pickings seem slim right now for job vacancies vs applicants.

Non-existent without at least four years experience. The Majors can afford to be extremely picky now that the COVID hiring rush is all but over. Have him keep applying though.

Assistant Flight Superintendent...is a dispatcher in training at Delta...and then you upgrade to Flight Superintendent

Yes, unless taking part in Peach Corps duties.

The test used to have a 50% fail rate, or higher.
The new test is easier and the majority pass.

Hey everyone, I have a question about the hiring process as a dispatcher with Delta. If an applicant passes the online assessment, what are the next steps? Does it usually lead to an online interview? And if that goes well, are candidates then invited to ATL for an in-person test and interview? Appreciate any insights—thanks in advance!

They score the resumes, then send invites for in-person interviews. A slow process for sure.
No formal dispatch knowledge test.

I took my assessment over weekend. I hope I did well, and continue. This job would really mean a lot to me. I worked at a regional about 5 years then had to relocate to Georgia. I’d be nice working close to home.
