SMART

Easily been 25 years since I’ve seen that.

Think I saw it in the theater. It was right at the beginning of the "multiplex" craze, where they were dividing theaters up willy-nilly to cram in as many individual theaters as possible. The actual theater I saw this in had like 24 seats, tops. But it was 1981, and teens would watch anything to get out of the house.

That particular venue, in retrospect, screened some, um, "lesser known" titles. I remember watching "Super Fuzz" on the "big screen" there as well.

To the Jumpseater: "How long have you been here?"
Jumpseater: "22 years"
Me: "Really? How come you're on reserve on the 737 in Miami?"
Jumpseater: "Oh...well, I've only been at mainline 6 months."
Me: "So you've only worked at American 6 months?"
Jumpseater: "Well, I was a flow-"
Me: "So you've only worked at American 6 months?"
Jumpseater: <Blank stare>
Horizon guys are like that too for some reason, and there isn’t even a flow!

Recently the FO proclaimed how long they’d been at “air group”. Uh IDGAF.

The koolaid runs strong in certain era’s of QX pilots…hired since 2017-present, there’s a good chance they’re like that. There’s a small sub-set of older ones, that for whatever reason think that there should be an “air group” seniority for non-rev’ving…but that’s another tale for another thread.

I can just about promise you that person didn’t call off fatigued or sick, because “ I don’t want to jeopardise my flow to mainline”
