I can't take credit for it, but there are times when what a friend of mine said seems too appropriate.
"Welcome to SkyWest... where the rules are made up and seniority doesn't matter."
Granted it seems that a lot of the crankiness comes from exploitation of the vagueness of the PPM and the many ill defined gray areas, but there are times where, in the interest of fostering goodwill, the company would (should?) perhaps be less interested in doing those things that while technically permitted don't go over too well with the pilot group.
