Skywest Questions

Feel free to ask our recruiting department directly through their official channels Max. Are you close to entering the circus that is Part 121?

Otherwise, no one really knows what any of this means. At best status quo and at worst - well, use your imagination.

Just started training FT, so about year and a half, to two years away from being in the big top.

I'll take it! $53 in ORD when I was there 4 years ago. $37 in DFW for room with fridge and microwave when I was there 5 years ago. $32 for just a fridge. $40 ain't bad.
At least Four Pointe ORD is still 53. Although the girl at the desk told me unfortunately the crew rate is going up.... To 55.

I'm in a $38 ORD hotel as we speak...
I refused to stay at the "not-so-quality inn" after one stay. BW on Mannheim, or whatever it was...$53. Free breakfast, close to the airport, and BW does rewards every 3 months for $50 off a room or a free room. They alternated the promos. So I would get rooms for free or for $3 numerous times.

Some thoughts on DTW: The airport is quite a ways from the derelict parts of Detroit. There are a lot of nice suburban options near the airport.

I know a number of MSP-based pilots that have been longing for a DTW domicile. I suspect they'll have quite a few volunteers signing up for it. Personally, I won't miss the DH trips to DTW, but that's me. A lot of senior MSP people are from SLC. The commute to DTW wouldn't be much different.

It'll be interesting to watch how it all shakes out. Seems to make sense to do it now as we head into the busy summer season.

You mean there aren't parts of Detroit that aren't derelict? You don't have to go very far at all from the airport to be in neighborhoods that are bad, for a variety of reasons. Sure, its not the empty city blocks part of DTW, but it's still detoilet.

Are there nicer areas close by, sure, but you're going to spend way more than you should to rent a place nearby.

No different than most major airports...there are bad neighborhoods within a short drive of many of them, MSP included. I had a couple of big clients in Detroit so used to spend time there. There are options.
