The most reliable way is to through your HR rep, as they're your one official source to actually get you moved. You can attempt to contact the facility ATM where you'd rather work and plead your case, and the ATM can petition on your behalf to have you moved (especially if they like you).

So I need to go up there and show some leg???? A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

I'm doing my best to boycott the individual PEPC threads, don't want to split the family up, ya know?

Anyway, I am going to the Atlanta PEPC and I received my e-Qip invite today...en route so I had to fill out the SF-86. I already had gathered all the info because, thanks to someone on this site, I already knew I'd be doing the SF-86. Even with all the info in front of me it still took me an hour to fill out.

Are you a stay-at-home mom or something?

All kidding aside, you're making this process REALLY freaking easy for some people.

+kudos to you!

tink, some food for thought...

What are you going to do the next time your husband PCSs, and the time after that, and the time after that? Does he plan on getting out or is he career?

My point is, and I don't mean to rain on your parade, but maybe this isn't the right career path for you. It sucks being married to the military, and I knew a lot of guys when I was in who were divorced multiple times. I really don't think the FAA is going to be agreeable to you transferring facilities every 3-4 years when your husband PCSs. They may do it once, but if you are asking that often, they are just going to say no.

Still, I wish you luck

Good lord. Thank you.
I had found this list of numbers for North Carolina, but then I found this

http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/headquarters_offices/ato/artcc/

and it didn't list Kinston, NC, which would be my first choice now knowing what's happening with my husbands stationing choices. So what does that mean?

Sorry to sound like a 3rd grader who doesn't know how to do her homework, but that's kind of how I feel. I'm used to being able to find my own info and do my own work, but they keep this stuff well hidden in these interwebs.

Well, basically he's been told he can choose between Cherry Point, NC and San Diego. He's able to change his choice up to October 1, 2009. So I'm trying to figure out if the FAA will play with me and give me something closer to San Diego or NC. If they will, he will choose his station based on that info.
He is encouraging me to do this as we both know this is a career, not just a job I can float to whenever I wish, but yes being married to the military has it's own issues. If we get NC, it will be easier to move up and down the East coast for him,as there are more stations he could be sent to, as opposed to the West coast. I don't plan on asking to transfer again ever if I can get closer to San Diego or Kinston, NC. We have family in both of those areas. But right now I don't want to live in Palmdale, CA, close to no one for the duration of my time with the FAA.

Make sense? Probably not.

Oh well, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU WoH. This person gladly accepts your help and will tell them to call you ASAP when they decide they're tired of me asking favors :hiya:

The list you found is only for en route centers. Kinston is a tower. Or...it seems...WAS a tower.

I'm sorry to rain on your parade, but I can't find any record of it anywhere else. It may not be around anymore. If it is...my guess is they're not hiring.

Sorry. I copied and pasted those numbers from an old list

Agreed. It could still be around, but it's not an FAA facility if it is. It's possible it is now a contract tower.

The only FAA facilities in NC are in Greensboro, Asheville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Fayetteville, and Wilmington.

Well..... it is DONE! The FAA fairies worked their magic and I got a phone call today from my HR rep saying I had a new HR rep, bc I am now going to SEE. I don't know what the heck that is, so I'm off to Google it! Hopefully my husband gets San Diego, bc I'm not even gonna ask the FAA to do anything for me again in the near future :) Haha, my husband said "Isn't that a pay cut?" Well, duh sweetie, it's either a lower paying facility or a 6 hour commute, your choice. Yay! :rawk:
Thank you everyone for your info and advice.

Grats. SEE=Gillespie Field, about 10 miles northeast of San Diego's central business district.

According to stuck mic, it is a lv 7 terminal facility that only has day and evening hours, so no overnights for you.

:laff: I already messed that one up..

Weather here is better now than it was last week.. Temps have dropped about 10 degrees.

Well that's good to hear its getting cooler. Oh by the way if I haven't said it already, Thank you for your personal blog about your OKC training. I really appreciate it :)

I'm going to think positive and hope for an OCT FOL as a birthday gift to me from my future employer

Edit: nothing FAA or ATC related but I can feel half my face again! I got back from the dentist (aka my wife) for deep cleaning. It feels good to be able to "feel" again!

Edit2: I'm sure all knows already but after my experience today...Everyone should definitely go to a dentist atleast once a year if not twice. Although my wife tells me everyday to floss, I usually just brushed twice a day but not floss that often. Definitely floss! Learned my lesson. lol.

I"ll  to that!

And you're welcome! Glad that some people have found it useful. It's not too terribly in-depth, but I think it gives more insight than most posts on here. Plus, it's all in one place :rawk:

Swinte,

Do people take notes in class? Did you bring notebooks, etc, etc....I mean to keep some of that stuff in your head require some note taking, right? Or do they just give you handouts?

UTAMAV:bandit:

UTAMAV:bandit:

You get handouts for the entire block that all of the instructors teach out of plus a workbook with all the questions from the end of each lesson. They also give you a 70 page notebook for notes. I would just bring a big 3-ring binder. Some people take notes but I don't. I just go over the lesson plans because they have all the info you need.

Has anyone waiting on their clearances/FOL heard anything yet? I was advised by my facility nurse to check in with my HR rep next Monday if I haven't heard anything by then.
