Pubnat 5/6

I have the past depression form 6 1/2 years ago and they sent out my clearances scantrons to my references and all my employers. However I pased the physical and EKG. I hope I passed the MMPI..lol.

I kept dozing off during the MMPI, no joke.. I hope I wasn't just pressing T/F and F4 without paying attention LOL! :(

I was wondering...at the upcoming ATL PEPC, if you fail part of the medical, do they tell you right then and there?, or do they say "someone will contact you with the results". I know I have some hearing loss, just not sure how much, everything is riding on my hearing...kind of nervous.

They'll tell you right there.

You can get a waiver for hearing if the loss isn't all that bad. I got one, I just had to see an audiologist at home and fax off the results to the regional medical examiner's office.

None of them have mentioned it....so as far as I know no one has received one yet.

At the PEPC they requested additional medical records. Not sure, but maybe they delay the other steps until you are medically cleared? I really don't know.

None of my husbands refereces have gotten their scantron yet either. My husband is all freaked out about it since he knows people on JC have had theirs sent out. Maybe it's just cause our HR rep was out of the office since the PEPC and just got back 3 days ago. Just stay positive. She was gone for a while. :)

So, my H.R. rep is back in town, I e-mailed her about transferring facilities to somewhere closer to where my husband will be stationed and she said it's up to the facility I'm at (ZLA) and the facility where I want to go (San Diego, or North Carolina, etc) and not up to her. And that I should just wait to be contacted by them. No time frame or instructions or advice or laughter or anything.

Anything from the JC crowd as to what I should do?

Stick with LA Center. After you CPC ask for the transfer. chances are your facility will say "you can stick with us or we'll find someone else."

Everything is up to your facility for the most part. If you're late to the Academy, your facility COULD say "we don't want him/her. Get rid of them"

Don't sweat it, I am living proof that all of the stuff you stayed up late worrying about about going wrong at the PEPC will work out just fine.

Unfortunately, you will probably get hit with something out of left field that you weren't even concerned about at all. :insane: It's enough to make you fail the MMPI.... oh, wait....

BTW swinte, thanks for doing the blogs. Keep 'em coming. If you get too busy studying to type up the blogs I am sure Mariachi would take a dictation....

:D

Isn't it going to take a few YEARS to CPC at a center? I don't want to spend a few YEARS apart from my husband and son, hoping for a transfer down the line.

But thanks for being the only one to respond so far :)

Yes, in most centers it can take 2 to 3 years. It just depends on the staffing they have for training and the like.

It honestly sounds like you have some decision making to do. I read in another post to contact your current facility and the facility you want to go to and see what the likelihood of getting a transfer may be. Some places are willing to let you go for it, some are not. Just like everything else, it's a toss-up.

After contacting them and finding out what your options are, that will give you a better idea of what you're looking at. If they won't give you the transfer, you'll have to decide whether you want to stick with it for a few years (including your wait for your FOL and then time at the Academy) for a career that you want, or if you want to move on to something else.

HR has nothing to do with transfers. It's all up to your facility and the facility you wish to transfer to.

Regardless of what you choose, I wish you the best of luck. Keep us posted!

Yeah call the facilities. Advocate for yourself. Don't feel like you're going behind your reps back or anything.

Call the facility you want to go to first. Say you are waiting for an FOL to ZLA, but you want to go there instead. Butter 'em up a bit. Once they say "I'll see what I can do" or whatever they say, put a little pressure on. Ask "Are you going to contact ZLA to arrange the transfer, or should I call them and have them arrange it?" Talk about it like it's a done deal. Let them know that you're not just going to be a passive waiter...but you're taking an active role in this.

If they're not receptive at SAN, call SCT, ZOA, NCT. One of them must need someone right!?

I'm not entirely sure if I talked to the ATM or Personnel at ZLA, but whoever I talked to was really nice. The front desk lady was super sweet.

WoH, I was hoping you'd respond. I was actually going to PM you asking if you know where I can get the numbers to those facilities and if you knew of any others in the area. If you could direct me to the right website, I'll do that legwork....I don't want to ask you to be my ATC-nanny :)
I know you put up that list of ones with possible spots and numbers but I don't even know how to find out how many places could be closer than ZLA, or North Carolina too.

Thanks for the words of encouragement too!!!!

Hey folks, UTAMAV has a situation and needs advice. I don't need the theatrical and sarcastic(just be glad you have TOL/if you don't wan't it leave) responses, just good old fashioned advice.

I have my TOL for ZHU, I'm very excited to have it, but my situation is making it VERY difficult to relocate. 1. I'm married 2. I have kids 3. I have a mortgage and it will be very tough to sell my house.

What are my best options going about requesting a redirect? Through my HR rep, C.S.? Through ATO? Through ATM at ZHU? I don't want to sound ungrateful, but I would probably lose my first 8 months salary on the sell of my home. My reason is better than (I don't want to move).

Thanks dudes:beer:

None of my references have received the letter either. I called a very nice lady that handles security clearaneces, and she mentioned that the reference forms are contracted out by the FAA. She said for our references to expect to see those within 30 days.

The most reliable way is to through your HR rep, as they're your one official source to actually get you moved. You can attempt to contact the facility ATM where you'd rather work and plead your case, and the ATM can petition on your behalf to have you moved (especially if they like you).

ah, UTAMAV, it seems we are in the same boat.... let me know what your results are.
My hr rep said she forwarded my e-mail to someone (I don't know who) at ZLA and it would be up to them if they would release me and if the other facility would want me. And that I would be contacted by them. No other info, no time frame, not much help I feel. Especially since I never told her a specific faciity I wanted to go to; just anything closer to San Diego, or Cherry Point ,NC... two very different locations I would think! I doubt someone from ZLA is going to spend their time calling around california and North Carolina to see if there is a facility that would want me.
So like, WoH and jerm suggested I'm going to get some phone numbers and call everyone myself, to make a human connection and put a voice with the plea :)

Good luck!
Send some luck to me too please :laff:
