Guys, I have tried finding the answer on here but cannot seem to hunt it down. If the ATO is nice enough to switch me to Terminal, how long can I expect to be in OKC as opposed to EnRoute? Thanks for the info....

Hard to tell. There's tons of people waiting either way. I doubt the ATO will switch you to terminal, but it never hurts to ask. My guess? You'll be waiting just as long, if not longer.

Based on the FAA Academy website:
Terminal Basics - 200 hours
TRACON Basics - 200 hours
Enroute Basics - 200 hours

Terminal Basics Radar Training (TRACON) - 152 hours
Introduction to Radar Control (TRACON) - 72 hours
Initial Tower Cab Training - 296 hours
Initial En Route Training - 424 hours

So, you'll save a little time and sanity by switching to Terminal.

Well, I have some extenuating circumstances. My HR rep said they were the most legit reasons to request a redirect she's seen in a while. Hopefully, the ATO will see it that way as well. I am willing to wait longer to switch to terminal.....the entire reason for me switching anyways is to stay in the DFW area around my family. Either way, just hope for me that the ATO says yes. I'd appreciate y'alls best wishes.

And yes it looks like Terminal would be slightly shorter in OKC. That would be nice. I don't have to wait so long to see my wife and kids.

I would be suprised if you switched to terminal. Centers are pretty hard to get out of as an applicant or CPC. I resigned from a Center just so I could go terminal(woo hoo, i got an up/down)..lol Ask controllers at a Center which do they prefer. 90% will probably wish they were Terminal. I'm pretty sure you won't be able to go from enroute to terminal but give it a try anyways. Good Luck!

And don't get me wrong....I am excited to go to ZHU, but my family suffered an unexpected death and that changes some things. I need to be in Dallas, but ZFW is full. That is why I am shooting for terminal. My need is to be close to my family, not to go terminal. Going terminal just happens to be my only option.:bandit:

That sux, you would think in that case they would do anything possible to help you. Adding only 1 more to ZFW probably wouldn't make that much of a difference. Well Good Luck, I'm gunning for ya!

maybe it's an omen......my clearances WILL be issued from a guy named Clarence, and I will have a class date in one month....hopefully with a redirect to Dallas/Forth Worth. Hey, nothing wrong with thinking positive.

My husband just got his yesterday too...

I think we all have the same HR rep too, C.S. Maybe since she took a 3 weeks vacation after the PEPC we were all delayed a bit.
