Guys, I want to thank all of you for your support, and for listening to my whining. It has been a tough month me for and my family. To hear you guys congratulate me on my redirect puts the icing on the cake. Thanks for being there to listen.....(yeah I know, I sound like a girl and my grandfather might come back from the dead and slap me with his Marine Corps tattoo hand.) So to balance it out, I like chicks, muscle cars, football, and greasy steaks. But seriously, thanks guys.

With my redirect, I have also changed HR people. Does any one here have E.M.? If you do, can you please PM her contact info. C.S. did not give me information for her. Thanks alot guys.

You know what, am I going to have to fill out sf-85p now that I am terminal. I mean the sf-86 has all the info that the 85 has plus some more....Do you guys think they are going to make me fill out the 85p?

That brings up another question. Why do terminal employees not need a security clearance? Any ideas?

Everyone gets a "secret" clearance as far as I know

People going to a Tracon or an up-down facility do the SF-86 anyways, so you'll be alright. Only people going to a basic tower do the SF-85.

You're still working with the national airspace system, directing enormous pieces of flying metal around the place. Can't just give that job to anybody. Besides, you're still in a position where you may be in contact with information that isn't meant for the general public. Just covering all their bases.

Tower operators, or better said, those filling out an SF-85P, are in a "position of public trust". One step down, more or less.

I had a private investigator come over on Tuesday to have me sign papers so they could look deeper into my student loan debts. Just one more hurdle to jump. Uggghhh

Why we all wait for our class date and FOL, I was googling online my future facility ZLA when I came across this website

http://www.laartcc.org/

There seem to be other artcc website like this online, all using VATSIM ( Virtual Air Traffic Simulation ). Anyone check it out before? I guess you can be a virtual ATC...

They noted on their disclaimer that they are not related to the FAA or the actual L.A. ARTCC but I was wondering if these are actual FAA controllers that are using these website to possbily train?

There seem to be an extensive amount of training and exams you need to pass on their website before you can join.

Anyone know the name of ZLA ATM? On the link above the ZLA ATM is Ian Elchitz. (Which is probably just for that website)

In laymen terms, is that site a wannabe ARTCC? like a game?

The ATM at ZLA is Kathryn Hughes. VATSIM refers to the virtual air traffic simulation network.

I have got everything in my TOL forms done except for my Physical Examination. Hopefully next week I can finally schedule one. I was jsut wandering what the Physical consisted of if anyone has already had one.

I'm assuming your non-PEPC? When I had my physical during PEPC, they performed an EKG, tested your reflexes, and your ability to stand still with your eyes close.

Did you already have your eye examination seperately? If not, that will most likely be included with your physical... Go get your eye's checked out prior to your physical examination date, you need 20/20. They will also test if your color blind.

you still need a clearance - but from what I understand - the secret service will be present in the tower when a particular aircraft is coming/going but ot in the enroute centers.

Haha, no, VATSIM aren't real controllers -- although they take it as far as they can. It's all simulation, they just have it set up around the same airspace as the real facilities. There are VATSIMs for other locations as well.

Real controllers don't get home from work and decide to do more controlling. I suppose if you were really interested you could sign up, but it won't be anymore "training" to be a controller than FSX is for being a pilot. You may pick up some concepts, but not really close to doing the real thing.

On a related note... the FAA Follies did a post last November on the ATM at Baton Rouge mistaking a review of simulated controllers for his actual workcrew. It's pretty entertaining. Check it out here.

So has anyone heard anything regarding their clearances? Weren't they supposed to be in for most of us last Friday?

At least for medical I thought it was this coming Saturday 15th but since HR don't work on the weekend, its probably this Friday 14th or the next business day Monday 17th.

I am going to call on monday the 17th for our Medical, as far as background...isn't it a little early. I'm not being an A$$, I am actually asking. However the ladies at the PEPC told us 8 weeks after the PEPC. I remember when I had a meet and greet with some buddies of mine about a year ago....they were all in the position we are all in right now....I remember them being ancy pantsy and moody. HAHA! Now, I understand where they were coming from. But they are all livin it up in Developmental country now.:beer:Here's to getting our medical, MMPI, and security all in the same week (next week). If it doesnt happen, what's another  gonna hurt. OH, BTW, if we didn't get one of those nasty "needs further evaluation" on the MMPI by now, could we consider ourselves having passed the test?

UTAMAV:bandit:

I called today, and they told me that I was medically cleared. They actually said I was cleared last week. You may want to try calling tomorrow instead of waiting until Friday.
