Pubnat 5/6

Just chekced the mail, got nothing regarding the MMPI...

But it looks like I won 4 tickets to the dodgers, got it in the mail! :rawk:

Hopefully its a good sign!

For those of you who have been through "further evaluation" from their MMPI2

Does anyone know why some people received a phone call and why some received a letter in the mail? I'm just wondering if one means something different than the other?

I'm not sure what the difference is. Anyone get a phone call in PUB5/6 regarding "further evaluation" on their MMPI?

Aug 15 is around the corner for our medical clearance and it seems MMPI results are starting to roll out. Anyone call their HR yet for any update?

Either way, I wish you and Domdom the best

I heard of one person on SM who got a phone call......

Seems to me as summers are worse. When my friend finished at the beginning of July I don't think it had been under 90 in 3 weeks. I can't stand heat like that. I'd rather have 2 feet of snow and 20 degree temps myself.

Good reason not to have a car there during our training :)

I rather be cold than blazing hot.

Agreed. I would rather go to school in layers and be comfortable, than to go naked and be miserable.

I was stationed at Fort Sill for 4 years, I did my basic during the summer of 2000 which was one of their hottest summers on record...Trust me the winters are worse. Yeah, it breaks 100 often in the summer but the humidity is very low (42% in OKC, compare that to 62% in atlanta right now and 68% where I live)

However, in the winter, the temperature usually hovers around 36 degrees, with a sustained wind of 20 mph and gusts to 35-40 on a daily basis, with rain quite often--it is a wet, bone chilling, cold. On the off chance that it does actually snow, which is rare, they don't have the equipment to clear the roads, and instead of salting the roads they throw sand on them, which does nothing but make dirty snow.

If we DON'T hear anything, is that good?

So, as I understand it, the applicants who need further evaluation on the psych portion have already received letters? What are the chances that those of us who haven't received anything passed the MMPI? Finally, does anyone have a day that they are going to call and ask about their medical? I'm thinking about the 24th of this month?\

alright.....soooo i received a letter yesterday (which was postmarked 7/30) that I do need further evaluation as well based on my MMPI results. From what i have seen, no news at thsi point is definitely a good thing, at least this week. lol. SM has a poll going regarding MMPI Pass/Fails. right now it is 11 people passed, 10 people failed (47%) very interesting....

That is interesting....50% failed. Yikes. I hope I am not in that boat. I just send another email to my HR rep. Maybe she will respond soon.

Letters have been received. They may continue to come throughout the week though. If I don't have one by Friday, I'll be pretty confident I passed.

As far as calling goes they said we could contact them again on the 15th(Which is a Sat., so first business day after that I suppose).

I'm not sure I'm even going to call. I imagine they'll let me know if they need anything else. I called to make sure all the stuff I had sent to them arrived in time, but other than that I'm not too concerned.

I sent a letter to my HR rep C.S. last week just to see if they received everything and she did not respond back. I am not worried about it tho. I do a job similar to hers and I can not imagine how many people she has contact with. I know it is redundant, but I am going by the motto "no news...".

My prediction:
Everyone that failed had previously read JC or SM and freaked out, thinking they'd fail, so they had to answer everything a specific way or they just knew the FAA wouldn't hire them.

You can't fail the thing if you answer everything honestly and without reading into the question. The first answer that comes to mind is the correct answer.

I somewhat agree with this. People need to take the advice given to them and to just answer the damn questions without thinking about it.

I passed the first time, but that's only because I'm awesome.:D

some guy called me today to met me at 6 about signing some papers regarding my background check...anyone have this happen or heard of it??? worse come to worse ill update tonight to tell you guys what its all about

Honestly, all I did was answer the first thing that popped in my head. It only took me about 30 minutes to complete the MMPI. Read the question, don't think about it, and click your answer. I looks like it worked for me. :)

:yeahthat:

Exactly. Simple.

The MMPI is a complex test developed by highly educated psychological professionals. None of us understand everything that it looks for, evaluates, etc. That's why it's a bad idea to try to "outsmart" the test. That would be very difficult to do even for a professional psychologist who had taken hours of coursework on the MMPI exam. Bottom line... if you do anything other than be honest you're subjecting yourself to a higher risk of failing the exam. If you approach the test how it's supposed to be approached by simply reading each question and instantly selecting an answer without pondering what the test is evaluating (because you'll guess wrong anyway), there's a very good chance you'll pass.

Just some advice. I hate to see people who are otherwise sane fail the MMPI because they were over-analyzing. Don't think too hard. Just read the question and honestly select your answer, then move on.
