PSA New Hire Questions

I know you know that, but we both know that lots of kids these days don't know that, ya know?
If kids these days want to learn any history they will. You can't arm wrestle ignorance even when they should know better. We've got a clown on here who has had no soft pay, then for a little bit had a contract with soft pay, and still can't get his tiny head around the fact (not rumor, fact) that soft pay can easily make up a $5 difference in pay. I used to fly with an anti union moron who knew the union was good for nothing while they stuffed $25k in his pocket for a grievance he didn't even know about, and he couldn't understand why he was getting the money after we drew him pictures.

Luckily dumb people aren't the norm.

GoJets and Freedom were created out of whole cloth in order to circumvent the union agreements at Trans States and Mesa, respectively. This would be like if AMR Corp said, "So, PSA, PDT and EGL don't want to fly these planes for nothing? That's fine, we'll are our own airline, with blackjack and hookers," and then went out and created A BRAND NEW AIRLINE with new pilots and airplanes, and gave the flying to that carrier, thus resetting the costs completely. Then in the case of GoJets, they'd put in a sham union and pass a "contract" so that it had the look of respectability..

Ole Freedom at one time only had something like 1 or 2 1900s on its certificate, just to keep the certificate alive. Being an Ornstein ploy, I guess it wasn't surprising.

If they are both equal, I'd pick the guy that wasn't just looking out for himself and his upgrade and instead was thinking about how his decisions effected the industry and his fellow pilots.

You're right I probably wont, I'm opinionated and more importantly care too much about my time at home.

I like how the two comments above were very quick to attack when all I'm really doing is telling you a truth that is shared by MANY of the pilots I fly with...I'm sorry that is the case but obviously the person with the original question was questioning the morality of this decision and I felt it best to let him know that, yes...it COULD be a factor.
Look at who tends to be on hiring boards, across all sectors of the industry.

Management pilots
Upper level flight management
HR

They are concerned about finding people who fit in at the company and who don't go above and beyond to screw the CO.

Just correct me please thats its only dayton and knoxville that has crew bases now not charlotte anymore? Also Im interested in the heavier of the CRJ's 7 and 9 for application reasons at foreign airlnes ( they like heavier jets ) what would the spread be between these and the cr2 that I may get as a new FO. It seems that the CR2's are being phased out anyhow?
Anyone know how much vacation the first year as well.
Any other thoughts from people who work at PSA feel free to throw opinions in the hat about PSA
thanks

PSA crew bases are CLT, DAY, and TYS. You might end up with DAY or TYS while in training, but you will get your choice of the three pretty quick.

As more 900's come there will be more and more 700/900 lines....mainly in CLT.

Good Luck.

All the lines, well almost all are blended lines right now. ie: 90hr line 13 days off. 2 of your 4 day trips may be on the 7/9 but the other 2 trips my be in the 200.

Cool thanks for that, how long after throwing in my application to a call or is it an email?

I applied online at 7pm and at 8am the next morning I had an email asking me when I could interview. Feel free to PM me any questions.
It was a email giving me options for interview dates. I picked a date about 2 weeks out, interviewed and was offered the job on the spot. I start class on Oct 13th.

Hmm so because its been a 36 hours I wonder if Im screwed for some reason... uff

One of my friends applied and was called for an interview a few hours later. He had a PIC type in the CRJ and a few thousand hours in it. I know of other people with less than 1500 hours that didn't receive the interview email for more than two weeks.

Ok so will hit the chill button. Will give it some more time than 36 hours just thought they were starving. Out of curiosity for other jobs applied too how long have you guys had to wait to get a response or do you usually not get anything or what?
Cheers.
