Latest offer from FedEx management: We know it sucks here, we worked out an offer for you guys to go to PSA instead!

I haven’t been on Jetflyers or any of the chat groups for over three years. I can’t even imagine how unhinged that has become.
My ongoing refusal to read Angery Widget has been wonderful for my job satisfaction and enjoyment. Not all opinions are created equally.

Similarly, I only ever monitored a handful of social media things when I was doing union stuff at old job, and it was mostly so I could stomp and stomp hard on either 1) things I would have to deal with later or 2) people giving terrible advice which would lead to (1).

I left Angry Widget during negotiations and then went back on a few months ago. I left again last week and I'm so happy I did. I hate it. I'm willing to bet FedEx has some real doozies on SM.

Similarly, I avoid Workspace, surface-to-unlimited.

If I want to know something, I’m going to 1) dial the chief pilot’s office, who 2) will tell me to call Pilot Assist anyway so. Otherwise it’s largely bloviation.

So a little new information has surfaced.

Apparently, PSA is also making this offer to UPS pilots. Perhaps it isn't gross malfeasance on the part of our Vice President of Operations (although some malfeasance is to be expected). It could be a ploy by PSA to fix their staffing issues.

What shocks me is that they have one of the most devoted pilot groups I've ever heard of, almost like a collegiate sports team and then the VP of Ops drops THAT grenade?!

That is some dissociative disorder-level social blindness.

I don't even work there and I'm both embarrassed and angry.

If any of you guys have had enough, hit me up, I'm more than happy to help if I can.

(I need to check my blood pressure because this REALLY pissed me off)

I'd bet you $10,000 to your favorite animal shelter that he didn't write it. Not even close. It was a "here, put this on your letterhead and send it out" moment.

Truth. However at some point, you have to "Van Der Spek"-it and say "Nah, I'm not doing that", lose that cush job and resume flying airplanes. You know, scary things that keep the fourth floor up at night… "Fly?! Like the little people?!"

The new FDX Alpa MEC chair wrote a message that seems to contradict that.

Exactly this.

I mean, do you realize what this thread is about?
Sure, but he said himself that furlough protection makes it unlikely that they furlough. I won't pretend to know the ins and outs of Fedex, but most people here have said that this is just some sort of ploy to get a worse contract pushed through. Zoom out a little, and he's a mid 30s wide body captain with a decent amount of seniority.
