Or get a moots ti :bandit:

One of these days. I may have to scope out Eriksen, Lynskey, and Seven as well but for some reason Moots is my #1. Haven't ridden any of the 4 yet - it's just too tempting. I feel as if I'd probably come home $10k poorer and my wife wouldn't be happy with that. Only when it's time will I go get fitted and visit the manufacturers.

Oh, Ti breaks, too. Don't let anybody tell you it doesn't, that's bull. The material won't break on its own but in a crash it can fail at a weld. My dad had a weld fail on a seat stay and his bike never even got wrecked. Just a contaminated weld. This is a rarity but it happens.

Cool man! My local shop has a team too, they all ride Madones, I have started doing some group rides with them, hopefully more next month. My schedule usually doesn't allow it...

You can always ask if anyone is riding during the week or when your schedule permits, you'd be surprised how many unofficial rides go out of a shop.

I bought a custom CR this summer. It was a very interesting experience. I had my bike fit pretty dialed. We mostly got everything right the first time. I would reccomend building something custom in steel before building a custom ti bike right off. I did my first road race 20 years ago and I have mostly ridden sort of crappy road bikes the entire time. My last bike was a Surly Pacer. Mostly I raced mountain bikes for the latter part of my bike racing "career". So there was no need for a roadie other than putting the miles in. I one point I had a Performance Ti road frame. It cracked after less than one year. The weld was contaminated. I'm pretty sure that moots has better quality control :). It was kind of a red badge of courage to show up to the local group ride in Santa Cruz on a saturday with an old Bridgestone RB1 with a rear rack and extra heavy wheels. I could still throw down and I got to make fun of the guys on expensive race bikes who didn't race. My most offensive road bike was an old Schwinn Paramount handmade in WI. It was rusted, dirty and battered but it was so stable. It was such a sleeper bike in the corners. Well now I am one of the guys I used to make fun of and I love it.

Rode my 25 mile route this morning from the neighborhood. Did it in 1:20:20 including a 1 mile warm up and a half mile cool down, avg speed 18.7MPH solo. Not a long ride but it felt good to push it most of the ride. Here is the route from the front of the hood so the route is a little shorter and avg speed on map my ride went down because of it.

Back to work tomorrow...

On another note I got the web designs from Doug for the Jerseys. I would like to go through Hincapie if you guys are alright with it, IMHO they make the best jerseys for the money and set you up with a graphic designer to design the Jerseys. We would go with the Hincapie Short Sleeve race cut jerseys, see: http://www.hincapie.com/custom/product_details.aspx?id=C100M11

or the Velocity Jerseys
See: http://www.hincapie.com/custom/product_details.aspx?id=C102M11

The pricing is attached and so is sizing. Hicapie does send out a sizing package for custom order but since we are located all around the country I don't think it would be possible to work that. I am 6'5" and 180lbs, wear a Mens Medium Jersey and comfortably get into Large Bib Shorts. Because sizing everyone with a kit won't be possible I would suggest going to your local shop and trying some Hincapie stuff on. From what I have heard the sizing for custom jerseys runs slightly different from their regular line so see how the normal stuff fits and then measure yourselves like the links suggest to make sure it will work.

For the guys that want bibs as well here are the two we would go with also with custom designs.

The normal two:

Let me know what you guys think. In a few days I may set up a vote if opinion look like they are close. one way or the other.

The last bit of business. There is a $100 dollar set up fee for an account with Hincapie, is a one time deal so we won't have to pay again. I don't really want to fork up the entire $100 to get this rolling so here is my proposal. I sent Doug an email asking him if he thought our site advertisers like ATP would be willing to pay for the Set up fee in return for a spot on the Jersey for advertising, I haven't gotten a response yet so in the meantime I was wondering if any of the guys that may be interested in Jerseys, or if other guys, like bumblebee:), with their own small businesses would be willing to pay a portion for advertising space on the jerseys. All you would have to do is email me your company logo, I am sure a PDF would work fine, and your on. We will decide on where logos go and how big based on how much each company/person paid. These things are gonna look hot guys, and I am excited. Heck I think we could even get Doug one to run around his house in...

Let me know what you think

Oh and once they Design is finalized you are on your own ordering them. I am still trying to figure out exactly how it works but we will get a log in for KitOrder.com, I will have a team manager log in you will each have your own member login to order your own Jerseys and Bibs when ever you want.

This is the whole process broken down for you.

Sounds good and thanks for taking the lead on this thing. I have no real preference on the manufacturer so if you like Hincapie that works for me.

And by bumblebee in my post I meant WacoFan... They argue so much I get them confused when I am not actually talking to them... :D.... I wish I could edit that...

We used Hincapie for our kits last year, I can check and see if we still have an account setup to avoid the $100 fee. I can also look into getting Hincapie or Sugoi at cost, let me know if you're interested.

My name is Jeremy, we're calling Hincapie in the morning to see about the set up fee. We think it might be setup/design per kit and not per account. We also haven't ordered anything from them since last year since we switched to Sugoi. We called Sugoi today and they have a high minimum order, somewhere around 50. If you don't meet that minimum you pay out the wazoo, it would be about 200 bucks for their stuff that's a step below the top of the line.

Awesome man, let me know how it goes. I appreciate you helping out.

Well I am humbled.... I know I am just getting back to the bike and I am certainly no heavy duty rider, but I can usually hold my own and keep a respectable pace on the terrain I ride. Well this morning I was doing two plus laps on my loop ride, which works out to about 40 miles. I had been maintaining a good 18+mph pace and feeling solid, when at about the 3/4 mark I was starting a hill and I heard "squeak, squeak, squeak" from behind me, which was coming from a crank arm each revolution. I look down and I'm climbing at 16mph in the big ring, when I the squeaky rider blew past me, and I do mean blew. Now I can handle being caught and passed, but... this guy was on a crappy old knobby tire mountain bike, basic pedals (no clips of any kind), sneakers, a rack, and a pretty good sized lunch cooler on the rack. WTF! This guy was crazy fit and shaming every road rider out there today.

Was in the shop later and relayed my observations, and found out the guy is another local I have not met. He is a hardcore runner, in his mid 50's, and does the Cadillac climb at insanely fast speeds. So on one hand I am completely humbled, and other hand I now have a goal to reach before I hit 50!

We got the info on pricing, but nothing on the $100 non-refundable fee. What you see on the website is what we paid last year, except we ordered 100+ jerseys and bib and about 30+ skinsuits. So "cost" is what we paid. I will let you know when I hear about the fee.

I will also check with my friend at LG.
