JC Cyclists.

Did some interval training for the first time in years this morning. 30mph sprints, for 25 minutes. 30seconds on and 1 minute off. My legs feel like jello. Hope to get better at this...

I have been doing hill intervals for the last month or so and they kick my ass! I am told they should never get easier because as you get more fit you should still be throwing 110% at them.

my route is usually the same.. I start from city of Irvine, CA and bike to the coast, Balboa.. the route i take is about 14.5 miles.

Check this out! This guy is nuts, anyone do anything like this. I think I would kill myself before I got this good.

I just got into road biking about 2 months ago. I just tried some interval stuff (2:00 on, 4:00 off 22-26 for the sprint, 14-18 for the rest period)...since it involved hills (which I am VERY weak on) I didn't last very long....plus it's like 100 degrees here in Chico. Small steps, small steps...

Thats where it starts man! If you can hold 22 up any good hill you are doing extremely well. Keep on chugging

yeah, working on doing a triathlon...the swim is my strongest, followed by the run...biking i need serious work on

3 mile run on the treadmill at the hotel this morning. Hope to get out on a few rides this week while I am off and update with a route. Is anyone else riding?

Having just gone through the process for the first time in a while, I strongly suggest following Jtrains advice. I started off with a number of preconceived notions on what I would get, and ended up with something completely outside of the box once I have been fit to each bike and did some test riding. A good shop will be able to guide you through the process and won't hurry you. If you are not sure about your shop options, befriend some local riders to get advice on where to go in your area.

I will third that!
Let us know what you decide. You guys that are doing lots of rides, do you have mapmyride.com accounts, if not you should make one and we can all add each other. It would be cool if everyone mapped out the routes they do so we can all see them.

My rides pretty much use the same several general components, I just mix them up a bit to meet my training schedule/needs. I either do multiple laps on the Park Loop at 80% for fat burning, hill climbs up Cadillac Mtn, combinations of the first two, or interval work on a nice ridge top road near my house. I don't think any of them would be too exciting illustrated on mapmyride.com. The pavement quality, frequent lack of shoulders, and speeding drivers on winding roads around these parts make regular road riding unpalatable for me.
