I really wasn't intending to defend anyone. I was just outlining the situation in more detail. My first job was working for an FBO in rural Virginia, and the owner of THAT place was EXACTLY the type of person you guys have painted a picture of. Cash was thin, he was having to dump money into it from his successful construction business and he tried to get by on as little maintenance as possible. He was constantly saying "I don't want to do this anymore" and threatening to shut down the FBO. I do know what a financially unstable and struggling business looks like.
And "bastard lawyer" was a figure of speech. He hates for anyone to impede on the progress of his business, charter, maintenance or whatever it may be. Unless I piss him off, he has no reason to "roll over on me".
On second thought, I will be applying to other places in the mean time.
