Boring sorta buys Embraer

Autothrottles that provide no tactile or visual indication of their moving.
No tactile feedback on the stick.
Dual control inputs that average each other out.
Different "laws" that behave differently than normal airplanes.

Etc.
Un-informed dribble drabble

No, that's annoying, but not the end of the world.

How about the box scrolls backwards but the ACARS scrolls forwards?

It’s like my iDrive in the BMW or the FIDS screens in the lounge, you’re pushing up the page.

It's slow.

Honeywell box.

PAGE UPDATE IN PROGRESS.

Honeywell.

Geometric VNAV.[./quote]

Update your cost index or something on your approach page and it magically goes away.

[quotoe]Speed window in managed descent, where if she misjudges the TOD and gets too fast, she'll give up the VNAV path to maintain speed? Who thought that was a good idea?

757/767 does the same thing but doesn’t tell you what the window is. If it edges above the VNAV speed, it’s a hint to start thinking about drag. A few previous jets the only hint you’d have is going from VNAV PTH to VNAV SPD.

For.... what? :)

Thrust levers don't move.

Lever position versus actual performance is a lie, ask any mad dog pilot! :)

Though someone finally showed me how to trick it into intercepting a LOC course in NAV, so that's nice.

Honeywell problems.

The 757 is a hunk of crap too, then!

HATE ME.

You're right about this, it shows what is being requested of the engines, not a specific power output. Even in the GLORIOUS, AMAZING, AND BICYCLE INSPIRED E-JET, what you're asking of the thing depends entirely on what mode the engine is in. The detent does different things depending on what you've got the thing programmed to do, though TOGA is still TOGA.

It'll be interesting to see how DoesThisMeanAirbusBuildsTrainCarsToo? Industries handled the issue on the A220.

At first I hated it, but then I thought about all the situations where I’ve found myself perplexed over what the automation is doing. I heard it best described, in terms of the functionality of the automation as:

Pointing at the autopilot panel: “This is what you want” then pointing at the FMA and E/WD display saying “this is what you got”. Pointing at the autopilot panel: “This is your girlfriend” then pointing at the FMA and E/WD: “This is your wife”.

So basically no matter how you feel about it or what you did, all of the mode and performance data is going to be on your FMA and E/WD. You may have pressed the “approach” pbs but is the aircraft actually doing it? If not, make it do it.

There have been so many times when the Fast/Slow is edging toward the bottom of the case on the 767 with the autothrottles moving in a range where we should be on speed and the engines are sitting there surfing Instagram.

More 340s. That's the ticket!
I'm guessing you said that ironically.
But in some permutation of design/ command&control, you're probably precisely correct. That's likely what's coming.

(edit: point of clarification... I'm meaning Cessna 340.) :)

Damn you guys can derail a Titanic

Anyways, kinda sorta heard a rumor the whole Boeing Embraer thing might be having hickups. Anyone heard derails?

It's been going on for a long while, I don't think this is the stage for hiccups. The biggest issues were the military side. BA gave up on it and was pretty happy with the commercial only side.

We had Honeywell boxes in the 717. Worked great. They didn't fly us into the ocean, either.

No, but if you get a break in power transfer, both VIAs can lock up and you lose both Honeywell boxes and have no way of changing your TO waypoint or loading an approach.

What do you guys have on you 321’s?
