Any charters DH/repo LA area to DFW Sunday or Monday?

Do you really have any idea of what the carriers have done to their pilots in the last twenty years? Do you know what the Managers/CEOs have made in salaries, stock options, golden parachutes, bennies and perks and while all of this was going on as they were crying wolf the entire time? Do you have any idea of how many concessions, furloughs, cut backs, pay drops, the outright lies/ b.s. and more that pilots have had to endure and the mergers,bks etc? I cannot believe that you do, considering your comments here.

This is not even getting into the Regional issues and other types of crap that happens to pilots in 91 and 135 flying at many places. Good grief. Just how many bend overs do you think professionals who spent a small fortune, years of training, sacrifices and working their way up should endure? Too bad they don't sell knee pads at Sporty's.

I can damn well tell you that when Tilton redecorated his offices he spent more on the furnishings/decor than 8 senior line Captains were making in a year! And you think that pilots are the problem? Really?

Mike, when you hire a pilot do you pay their moving expenses? I've had several jobs where they don't pay me to show up. Most recently the base was Louisville. UPS wasn't going to buy me a ticket to show up for initial. I'm not seeing the difference here. Talk about a flippen witch hunt....
 
At my current job, I was expected to pay for my flight to GEG and they would get me a rental car to drive to the FBO. I understood that because it's a small outlet and they normally only hire locals...and since I live two states away, I agreed to that. When I arrived, I found out that the only thing they were planning on paying was the motel...no per diem, no daily rate, no flight reimbursement. I then told the owner he had a choice, he could pay me a daily rate that wouldn't let me go in the hole for the two weeks I was there. Or he could give me per diem and reimburse me for my flight.
He agreed to pay for my flight once I was dispatched on a fire and a reasonable per diem rate. I think it made an impression on him, that if he wants professional pilots that don't embarrass the company, then he needs to invest in them....at least a little.
It was a deal I thought was reasonable for the size of business I was working for.
 
I am not sure if you were a member of JC pre 2000 I was the ultimate want-to-be pilot. I was 17 had my PPL, 200 hrs, and was so well network every other day I was meeting professional pilots for lunch. When Doug was trying to get Al Haynes to come to NJC it was me who provided him his home phone number.

I was actually meant to interview at BA on Sept 19th 2001 - between that interview and graduating college Dec 2002 I learned a lot about the industry. While I didn't imagine it would be this bad, I foresaw that the regionals were not just a place you spend a year before being hired by the majors, I foresaw that the days when being an airline pilot equalled and upper middle class lifestyle were over. I foresaw that the strain was not just going to be while at work but would be all encompassing. I decided it was not for me!

As someone who a young age always knew what I wanted to do - suddenly I didn't. I spent the next 6 years finding myself. I ended up deciding I wanted to work to become a nurse. I hope to combine aviation and nursing to become a flight nurse - aviation never left me!
 
It is funny - the only people who have give me grief have been here. No one at work has even mentioned it to anyone who was willing to work - it was considered a personal decision which they understood.

Of course he can.

But he was willing to cross the line. I believe the strike was canceled, but Ian posted a dissertation looking for sympathy on his decision on here. He's not getting it from me.

I'm faaaaaaar from perfect. But I have principle on what is right and wrong when people are trying to put themselves out of a job to invest in their livelihood in the future.

Again...let it go. You're not doing you or your cause any favors by repeating it over and over.
 
The whole premise of the thread was some guy looking for a free ride to his domicile to start initial. I drove my car. But I'd love to hear those who attacked the guy to tell us of their first job and by what means they showed up to day one. What company buys you a damn ticket to your first day of work? It's silly. You show up where the job is on day one.
