Don't Snap Roll A Hawker

Do not roll non-aerobatic airplanes.

I have too many dead friends that did ridiculous crap in airplanes.

This. People act all surprised when something bad happens when they were doing something that could get them that way.

Pretty much like an unexpected pregnancy. "Well, what did you THINK was going to happen?" And like pregnancy, there's no such thing as just a little.

I don't like being around people like that. Some of them are dangerous in that they weave some sort of mystic field that convinces people they are cool, funny, good looking, and immune from all harm. You call foul on their outrageous conduct, and its you that winds up getting into a pile of poo over it. Total Kobayashi Maru scenario.

When to poo grenade goes off (and these types inevitably self destruct), they tend to frag out a LOT of innocents. Anyone even remotely involved will get showered with crap. Best plan is to be as far removed from the situation as possible when the NTSB comes knocking.

This guy did it for hundreds if not thousands of hours with two engines, single engine and both engines out. That Commander must be a real tough one and was not certified for aerobatics..........................

What ever happened to different planes for different missions? A Pitts for aero, a Hawker for speed, comfort, distance, A 172 for training etc.

I do remember my initial spin experience in a 172. At the time I thought it was great fun and great experience and it spurred me into taking aero. Reflecting back I realize the way it was done was not only incorrect by the CFI but down right dangerous.

Yeah, and it was awesome to watch. I saw him at Reno fit his last time. But be had to get approval from the feds. With proper energy management be could have probably done it in a Hawker, just like the one this thread is about.

Folks may be putting @Derg in a tough position here

Has anyone ever thought, that the FAA may be reading this? I'm sure even a down to earth Aviation Safety Inspector would have a field day with some of the attitudes and actions in this thread.

Anyone that does aerobatics in non certified planes please just do it single pilot. Don't bring anyone else to your smoking hole.

I would take it one step forward and say if you do aerobatics in a non certified airplane, don't bring anyone else to your smoking hole, and don't do it in an aircraft that someone else is going to fly after you. I would hate for some ass to damage an aircraft after an improper aerobatic maneuver, only to have the next guy take it out after him only to have it come apart in flight.

Especially if you are a CFI flying with a student. You may be Hoover, but the student isn't, so don't encourage crap like that. I once had an instructor do it once with me during a lesson. At the time I thought it was the coolest thing, but fortunately I was smart enough to not try it myself. Now that I have much more experience, how can't believe how dumb that was. I enjoyed that instructor, and he is a great guy, but it still was a dumb decision.

A FAA Inspector looks at this thread and decides to investigate some of the claims further. Then @Derg is getting a call from the Feds asking for user information.

I can't remember because it's been so long since I signed up, but I'm pretty sure there isn't really much personal data needed, other than an email address.

Even then, we all dig our own graves.

@Derg would be justified in telling them to go to the devil without a warrant, but even so, it's not that hard to figure out who's who.
