Pinnacle discussion

The new attendance policy will fix all short staffing needs. It's more or less "show up to work or else" now. That or they'll just start giving guys on sits that don't answer their phones missed trips like they did yesterday.....

I'm currently flying with said pilot and the NFA was cleared in about 2 mins flat. In a way I feel for schedulers- they are trying to do their job with putting meat in the seat, unfortunately they don't have the tools and are being pressured to "get creative". In the end it simply drives morale even lower which makes every day harder for everyone.

Oh, yeah. I knew it would be. Scheduling also said they were going to get the PM RR to do the flight, but instead they tagged me about 20 minutes before I would have been done. Gotta love sitting for 8 hours then getting something tossed on your schedule. Fact is, he should have never been miss tripped in the first place. Just like I shouldn't have gotten attitude from a scheduler because I told them I needed an hour and a half to get to the airport. The problem is schedulers are getting stressed out, taking it out on us and nothing is being done. If the roles were reversed, you know better than anyone we'd be in the office with either you, NL, TK or any of the C3 guys fighting a suspension. That memo was just the last straw for me. Company doesn't care for it's employees, it's no wonder the employees don't care if the company falls apart.

yea, NL was tagged with it, then it got yanked. We would have had some fun in Columbia for 18 hours.

Please, don't feel bad for them. I don't, I see what you pncl pilots are put through and I feel bad for you. They have way too many opportunities to abuse you.

Is this for real? You guys have 39,035 block hours of flying for July and you have 1,225 pilots? If that is the case, then damn! Time to hire!

Okay. so is that policy posted on the airlink pilots website for rule and is it live as of today? If that's the case, I'm all set to burn the place down even if we DO get a TA if that's how management treats their employees. It's enough to make me want to go back to pushing buttons in Orlando.....

That's a negative. It's not in the employee handbook, FOM, or in the hands of any LINE pilot. The V-file and "virtual file" are as a MEMO, and does not state a policy as I interpret it. If you are sick, call in sick. FAR's trump MEMO's. If you are asked "what hurts?" please call me immediately, as that is a HIPPA lawsuit with a bow on it. We are working on both communication to the pilot group and working with the company on this egregious attempt to force pilots to work, even when sick and in an unsafe manner. The company is using vinegar instead of honey and unfortunately for mgmt (and our overall morale and well being of the pilot group- and company for that matter) it is a shame. Stay tuned for the next turn of the wheel that is constantly trying to be reinvented. If you are sick to the point of needing going to the doc, get a note just as you would have anyway as a professional prior to the memo earlier this week.

I wonder how day 1 of the D.C. talks went today. With all the latest and greatest from 9E i'd say the pilot group is due some GOOD news for once. Not holding my breath though......:dunno:

I understand the plan is to have the negotiating updates via email each night like the last round with the company and full staff.

And as Ken says that, it's hit my inbox. Looks like agreement on pay rates and duration with several issues still decently apart. Next update to be out Wed night.

Well...with no notable progress on day 2 it looks like this will require at least another week of mediated negotiations unless hell freezes over and the company decides to accept the close-out proposal. I honestly don't know how much more this group will take if the company continues to stall. It seems the potential sick policy has pissed off even the most loyal company pilots. Guys continue to leave for greener pastures with only a small class of hiring rumored for this fall. I really do start to wonder if this company truly has a limit it intends to push this pilot group to (stupid question I know). Lets hope for a productive day three....looking forward to seeing what the union will be able to secure. I really hope the company takes this proposal seriously, it's finally time to repay this pilot group for all the hard work we have done in the past years.

Honestly, I'm not getting my hope up. If we have a contract done by the time I move on to greener pastures, great. If not....well, as long as I'm out and don't have to deal with this management group anymore, whatever. I've got enough holes in my back from our own pilots, guys dying to fly a shiny jet and guys at other regionals hoping we die so they can get our shiny jets. Our management team seems content to ignore reality until it's far too late to do anything about it. They can't POSSIBLY be the ones that miscalculated, so it must be those lazy pilots and flight attendants causing all the problems because they get sick a couple of days a year or can't function on 5 hours of sleep during a 13 hour day.

I've given up hope on getting this pilot group all on the same page, too. Even with the new sick policy, we've still got plenty of guys that will pick up the open time at 200% and cash their pay check. If it were the junior FOs, that's one thing. They can use the cash. However, those guys can't pick up any open time because they're maxed out on flying right from the start. It's normally the super senior guys (mostly CAs) that will get scheduling to convert their high speed into a legal rest overnight so they can pick up an extra turn or two. Then when those of us that don't WANT to fly any more get tossed in the same situation, scheduling will change our high speed to an overnight and extend us in the morning when we get back thinking we WANT to fly. It's enough to make a guy start throwing punches in the crew room.

Something good has come of the new sick/200% open time policy, though. I actually had two days of home reserve where I didn't get called.....in a row. That hasn't happened since....well, when I was a new FO in 2006.

Yeah give it a month and this new sick policy will be at Colgan. Cross out the word Pinnacle, write Colgan, and we get a new sick policy. I can't wait. The only good thing we have going for us is our RCP in EWR, he has been extremely nice and understanding when you call out sick. Doesn't ask for a note. In fact, he made two of my sick calls one as it was for the same medical condition just spread out by a few months (and i had brought him a note).

We've got an awesome CP in MEM. However, if he bucks management too much, he'll get the boot just like the others that did so before him. Granted one of them is now with the MEM FSDO and breathing down the company's neck. Oh, karma. How I love thee......

More of this this karma will continue to happen if mgt doesn't stop acting like a fool on both properties.... you can only keep people backed into a corner for so long...

Well my optimism of SOMETHING positive was put to absolute shame. I thought AT LEAST we could have TA'd a section or two (besides agreeing on pay rates) and moved closer to getting this thing done. But to read the company wants major CONCESSIONS from us??? Holy crap...that takes some major cahones on behalf of the company. Nationwide LEADING performance before we were hit with this staffing crisis and the company has the nerve to pull this - in front of the NMB none-the-less. Hopefully this NMB realized what a piece of work this company is and acts appropriately.
