Pinnacle discussion

You guys gonna start hiring anytime soon?

Doubtful. If we hired tomorrow, the guys wouldn't hit the line until we see our hours drop down to what they were back in Feb/Mar. We were still short staffed then, but management swore up and down we didn't need to hire. Enter summer, and we're hosed. Fall rolls around, we'll just be "mildly screwed" again. If I had to guess, I'd say they'll hold off on even interviewing until Jan or Feb 2011, that is, unless we lose an awful lot of people to hiring at other airlines or general "F it" attitude.

That doesn't help if I fail out of school.

You're not gonna fail out of school. How far are you from recall at XJT?

14.

I think it might be another 6-9 months before my number comes up for the first sweep, then another 12 months after that before I've gotta make the SOGOTP decision.

A MEM update went out around midnight last night. If you are MEM based and didn't get one email me from a real email (so I can verify who you are) and I will gladly forward it. If you are not MEM based talk to kellwolf- he's a P2P guy, I will not cross LEC lines and undermine other reps. Each base is different and it would be very inappropriate for me to send the MEM update to the other bases.
That being said reps will always answer phones/email/texts regardless of base, but lets keep that on a direct basis and not through a public board.

So M.G. resigned only to accept a position at the Corp????? What does this mean? Does he want to stay in memphis after someone buys or merges with us.:rotfl:

In all honesty guys, I think something big is up, Im not quite sure what it is but there has been a lot of upper management posturing lately and a lot of silence. Take a look at these two articles I found. I took some quites from both of them.

"Pinnacle knows that it may lose 50 seat jet flying as contracts come up and demand shrinks, so it has moved more aggressively into the turboprop world with Colgan."
"So that’s where Pinnacle sees its growth potential, in the turboprop world"

Two very interesting articles...thanks for posting those!

I found that first one VERY interesting with all the different scenarios they were mentioning. Yes, I have a feeling that we could be flying Q400's before too long....

You are very optimistic, I think they would just sell us off and grow colgan. Once again just my thoughts no rumor.

But on the commercial side, Pinnacle is positioning itself to win more flying. Pinnacle knows that it may lose 50 seat jet flying as contracts come up and demand shrinks, so it has moved more aggressively into the turboprop world with Colgan.

IDK. This seems like poor wording. Our 50 seat contract doesn't expire unti 2017, so unless management re-negotiates it for less flying, I don't see it going anywhere.....unless they "unplanned absent" our performance numbers to the level Delta can cancel it. Block hours are going to change for EVERY DCI carrier from month to month, but we're contracted to no less than 124 50 seaters right now. We have 126 if you count the two birds we're leasing from Comair. So, we can lose 2 airframes, I suppose. Take 'em. Please. Maybe I'll actually GET all 10 of my days off in a month.

I DO think they'll push the Q400 harder than they'll push anything at 9E, if nothing else, it may give them better leverage on that first contact Colgan is currently negotiating. We've got options for -900s, but you NEVER hear management mention it. It's all about the Q400.

I think what the article MEANT to say is competition is gonna be heavy for the few 50 seat contracts that will actually be renewed, and Pinnacle thinks it may lose some of those. Heck, they've already lost 2 50 seat contract bids in the past year. I'd wager that most of Freedom's flying just won't be up for a re-bid or re-allocation. It'll just go away.

According to the conference call today the uptick in block hrs at Comair is from Freedom, thing is it's not even close to what they are doing now, so I'd have to think a good chunk is just going to slowly disappear from the system.

that evil flight info website is buzzing about something going down with the union today. Anyone know anything?

I have received a ton of emails about this. I am on a call as we speak and all we are doing is firming up the MEC positions going forward into the NMB. I just paid the $10 to register (awaiting activation) to set the record straight. I never wanted to get on that forum, but it's in the job description. There is nothing at all happening tonight other than making sure we are all in the boat and understanding/setting the line in the sand going forward.

That website has to be the most complete collection of aviation stupidity on the internet.

Hey Higney, after the MEC meeting would you describe your attitude towards The NMB sessions as:rawk:,:dunno: or  or possibly:bandit:

The best part is that the author of that thread doesnt even work at pinnacle. He started that whole crap storm, and he's not even employed there. ah.....the interwebs.

As much as it sounds like the boy who cried wolf, it seems to be a very optimistic tone all around. The goal is to have this done the week of the 21st- but that is a goal and cannot be guaranteed unless we go into the week with the intent of selling our soul (which isn't happening). The list has been the same since Feb and has been communicated to all the pilots and the NMB has it as well. For specific questions feel free to call or email me next week. Sorry I have to be vague, but as we all know, the public internet message board is not really the best place to lay out "business" for all to see.
