So because his career plans are different than yours, he doesn't matter? He probably isnt looking for any sympathy....

Well, wouldn't you feel a duty to tell someone they are driving towards a cliff? I think the point is that his career plan my not match up with reality. Anyone under age 50 who isn't trying to get out is delusional. It may work out for them, who knows...

The new regs reduce productivity, so they can only do so much.

Can you tell me that when you were here, that the pairings that they built were productive? I seem to recall a lot of 3-4 hour sits per pairing, on any given month and had one which was 4:50 (this avoided the need to get a hotel for the crew). Combine that with the 30 hour layovers, I wouldn't call that productive.

He loses all right to complain if he's not trying to leave, and if he's a 6 year captain on reserve I'm betting he's doing a lot of complaining.

The new regs will limit the number and length of sits due to duty time limits. The sits are built into the pairings to help with on time performance and to give schedule flexibility. They suck, don't get me wrong, but that's why the company does it. At JetBlue we have LOTS of sits in San Juan because we don't have a base there. So if a flight gets all jacked up they have crews sitting around to keep the schedule on time.

To answer your question, the pairings were about as productive as they could be given the crap handed down by Delta. I talked with the pairing guys all the time, and the days of pure pairing construction went away in like 2006-2007 when Delta started mixing in all the regionals to prevent one carrier from having the ability to screw them ala Comair.

Only pilots with big ego's ever upgrade!

The part you're missing is that a lot of these guys bitch and moan about how horrible it is here, but then make ZERO effort to move on. I believe that's what the wookie is referring to.

That MAY be true...But all we know from mastermags post is....."I am flying with a 6-yr reserve CA..." Nothing more, mothing less....

Now if this person were bitching and moaning and not making an effort, then I would agree.... F' him.....

It has been made quite clear on here that regionals are not a place one should expect to 'hang out'.

The information on here and the mentoring that does happen on here makes people reach their aviation goals. With the technology out there, if people don't do their research about their profession and DON'T have higher goals than a 50 seat regional Captain, like I said, no sympathy.

He also said he hasn't applied at any other airlines......

Exactly.

I do understand some people do get stuck and I do feel sorry for them. But, those who give no effort to get out, no sympathy.

Again...who gives two turds.. Just because HIS goals, dont appear to match yours doesn't make you any better or him any worse....

He also said he hasn't applied at any other airlines......

Your point being.....?

And maybe, just maybe, he DOESN'T WANT TO.......

Jesus people, dont get your undies in a bunch......

All we know from mastermags post is.... "he is flying with a 6yr reserve CA that hasn't applied elsewhere". Nothing More, nothing less.

Everyone seems to be making a bunch of assumptions..... ;-)

He does make it a lot worse for the guys like @Screaming_Emu who do want to move on.

Actions speak louder than words. If one, who is a six year regional captain, 'hasn't applied elsewhere' that shows a lot.

Yes and no. If he moved on it would allow me to upgrade sooner. But by the same token, if he goes to a major, that's one less spot there for me.

They might not have that college degree, older, and kids. They would rather keep QOL and save the college fund for the kids. I know someone at JC basically in that same situation.

Their choice. I do know he sees the larger picture though so he does what he can to improve life at his regional.

So now we're talking about Screaming_Emu? Lets stick to the subject.....A person not moving on for whatever reason.....And your 'no sympathy'.....

Please tell me what that shows about this person based on ONE statement? All it shows is....'He hasn't applied elsewhere'.....You're making assumptions again....
