Are these new trends in order to try and get/keep pax attention to safety brief videos?

Not sure.

What I can say, and this is having flown on my shop (no video play, manual demonstration) to the big 3, I notice the people around me are almost always never paying attention. They're either asleep already, busy in their phone/tablet, dealing with their kids, reading a book/pad, eating, anything but looking at the FAs or the video. Not to say some don't. I just don't know if it make a difference. Maybe?

I mean, like all safety videos these days you still get the feeling the casting call goes something like "white males need not apply."

But other than that, Delta's video is decent/well done. Actual airplane scenes.

Yeah, fair enough, I guess that was probably 15+ yrs ago, and she already was fairly "augmented" at the time it appeared. Found the original. Love how many flip phones are featured. Man, I'd forgotten about that phase.....shortly after the "make them so small you can't even see them" phase

I really don't get the whole plastic surgery thing. I guess there's a chance that I just don't notice the "good" work that is done, but it always seems like they're trading their ability to look like a normal person when their older for AT BEST a very slight enhancement when they're younger.

The amount of *young* girls getting plastics is staggering these days. It's always fake lips, and they always look horrible. I was about to say, this chick is perhaps the one and only one I have ever seen where it looked even remotely ok. I want to tell them, you look like •ing donkey lips now, and you are 24, congrats on your retirement from being hot

Exactly. I feel like that too with most modifications on cars too. Very few are done tastefully and most of the time all it does is ruin the reliability down the road.

Also very true. And they are then shocked when nobody is going to pay extra for their used car based on mods.

I do support tasteful boob jobs. The kind that doesn't involve big boobs where they didn't exist before. But that is all, and even that isn't really my jam.

The duck lips look terrible.


Another thing I notice in the LA area, horrible tats. I mean some can look good. But more often than not, it’s an abomination that they’ll regret 20-30 yrs from now.

Time for a shout out to Alaska Airlines. My mom bought a full-fare ticket for the wrong dates. Fearing the worst, she called their customer service number. The CSA changed her reservation and credited her $13.

Anyone else have any GOOD things happen lately?

I have good things happen (at work!) EVERY DAY!

When I show up, I know that I am going to help someone. I spend most of my time in the Operations and Customer Center and by the time a pilot gets to me, he or she has usually exhausted every avenue that a resourceful airline pilot has available to fix a problem. I have the ability to pull a lot of levers. I can go face to face with almost anybody who can affect the situation for our crews and customers. I can spend money. I defend the contract faithfully. I arm leadership with the facts and can tell the guy's story when a pilot makes a decision on the line that the rest of the operation thinks is bonkers.

I cannot give everybody everything they want. I have to do what is best for the airline. Fortunately, what is best for the airline lines up with what is best for the pilots a VAST majority of the time; even when the pilot thinks it won't. I do my best to give an unreasonable level of service to those who call me.

When I go to work, I go to GIVE. I just happen to get paid a lot to do it.

(also EDIT: positive enough? I can go dark, too. It's just better that I don't.)
