The Pilot Shortage -Managements Fault?

I don't know man... An endless slog of 4 off 2 on sounds awesome to me!
It's really not great. It's great if you score a partial weekend (remember, Earth people work Monday through Friday, but airplanes do not know the difference), and it's great if the trip pays over 16 hours...but...

That actually sounds kind of terrible.
Yeah. 4-3 is my sweet spot.
Day 1: doing all the stuff I didn't do on the road
Day 2: "ahhhhhhh"
Day 3: "oooo, work tomorrow, flying!"

No.

Stuff that you would call "grievances" aside, which are few and far between, mine has been correct all but two pay periods at the Mormon Air Force.

I'm also a member of the Mormon Air Force and they've botched my check a few times. I never used to actual go over my paycheck because I figured I can trust it was correct, but now I go through it very carefully. It always happens when there's a cancellation or getting displaced. Somehow hours that should be paid out are "lost" and don't make it to my bank account.

I seriously wish I could have that mindset. It's nice getting home every few days but for me the sweet spot was my old 7/7 schedule. That was the best schedule I've ever had.

Day 1: Veg out watching TV and playing video games while recouping from a week on the road.
Day 2-6: WOO HOO I HAVE THE WHOLE WEEK OFF!
Day 7: Ok I'm bored, is it time to go back to work yet?

Day 7: Ok, these kids have wore me out. Can I go back to work to relax.

I have two young kids, and go to work to recoup. Last time off I was home for 5 days. I think I only sat on the couch for 3 minutes. Had a blast with my two little boogers, but they are hard to keep up with.

The most egregious example was when I got a check for $27.88 for two weeks of reserve. I had called in sick for two of the days, and only had like 1.5 of user time, so they dutifully paid out the user time instead of the half-month guarantee minus the days I was out for.

To be fair, they FDX'd a paper check right away.

I don't think I've had an employee who has not botched my pay at some point. I had an issue with the Army when I first enlisted. First I was not paid at all, then they paid me as an E-1 instead of an E-3 for 2 years. I did not get my back pay until years later when I was a 2LT.

My last month or so was 11-3-19-1-going on 3. The small numbers are working days. I've never had it so good and hope it stays for awhile.

Week one, ah, time to sleep in.
Week two, OOOO displaced *fist pump!*
Week three, do I have to go back?

I'm lazy.

Last month I had 15 days off in a row, followed by 14 days of not flying on call at home, 1 flight(unless you count flying my airplane which was almost every other day) and a checkride. So far this month is doing almost as well. 5 days into my shift and 2 flights, one being mx.

You brag now, but next month you will be full duty day flying every day.

Yeah, so do I. And you know what? It's better looking up than looking down. I wouldn't go back for seven figures a year.

See, that's the issue. If you feel that way, you were clearly in the wrong industry from the beginning. I feel the opposite. I wouldn't leave the aviation world for any amount of money. We all have our passions, and if you don't have the passion for the lifestyle of being in aviation, you won't like it, no matter how good your QOL or pay is.
