You have no idea how many times I've written responses to this comment, only to delete them and start over.
I originally went with the sarcasm response ('since you are apparently an expert on fighter aviation based on what you've read at the AOPA forum...'), but then changed it to the wise old man advice ('well, I generally listen to people who have 10x my total time when they are trying to explain something') and subsequently to the criticism ('WTF does anything I wrote have anything to do with who is the better pilot??').
But, I erased all of those responses because none of them really captured what I would actually explain to you if we were discussing this in person. In addition, they were a little disrespectful, and as much as I wanted to match your fire with my fire, that just isn't needed among pilots with common goals and common interests.
Instead, I'll simply say this: This is an area I have a pretty decent amount of experience in, so I was attempting to explain some of the misunderstood nuances of a hypothetical scenario that you brought up and subsequently tried to argue.
I try to keep my comments within the realm of things I actually know about. Next time anyone catches me pontificating about some subject they are actually experienced in, and I'm wrong, I expect them to not only call me out on it, but also educate me on what was incorrect.
Isn't that why we're all here? To exchange information and ideas among people with common interests and common goals?

I get it, your a fighter pilot, and are better flying that the rest of us. Its a freaking hypothetical situation. Chill out Mavrick.
Mike, do you remember the time Alex got you to help out a fake F-16 pilot on some flight sim board, and they all claimed YOU were the fraud? I still get a kick about that.
LOL, yeah! That was after TomCatter. The guy was a CAP dude who was posing as a Hill-based F-16 pilot. I caught numerous errors in his story, and in fact asked if he knew guys that I knew who were currently in the squadron he was claiming to be a part of. He couldn't answer any of them, nor answer questions about recent events that had just occurred in the unit.
All the flight-sim idiots couldn't accept that this guy was possibly a fraud, since he was so prominient on the board and was one of its senior members.
Clowns..
Lol, I'd forgotten about that one partner! Btw, that was some darn good BBQ in Arlington!
LOL...I remember that one too...that was funny!Yall got a link for that one? Sounds immensely entertaining.

And the link here at JC. Very long thread.
Alex.

One thing about non aviators pretending to be military aviators is the lingo. They can search the net, read books and magazine but when they talk, certain things don't sound right. I caught the guy attempting to be a Viper driver the moment he said he flew the F-16 Fighting Falcon. In the scheme of things, it isn't a huge deal but IMO, you don't get to pretend to be something you're not when you haven't experienced the blood, sweat and tears of the military. Meaning, the training itself is an experience, the time away from home, the combat time for some (guys like Hacker or Mike D who flew tactical jets), the loss of friends, etc. The Reserve Colonel was oh so close to being on the POW network and that's when he backed down...he stuck to his story until that point.

That's a big thing.....the lingo. They generally don't use it, but if they do, it's not in correct context...just comes across as odd and easy for us to catch.
Like your last few sentences say here, that's what I tried to get across to the flight sim clowns with my initial post in the last thread that CK put up of that site.
