Spirit Airlines passenger zip-tied, arrested after assaulting flight attendants at airport

So would people not acting like idiots. Aren’t you a member of the party of personal responsibility or something?

I see this situation as a positive. The adults who act like petulant toddlers are now going to be on no-fly lists. It’s a win.

There would be less incentive to act like an ass if you didn’t have to wear a soggy face diaper for 4 hours while being screamed at every 5 minutes by a surly FA that “MASKS MUST COVER YOUR NOSE AND MOUTH11!1!1!”……..and again, mix alcohol with this and the whole pile of timber ignites.

Anytime your terms for service are people, any people, are going to buy a ticket and be squeezed into an uncomfortable seat with a bunch of folks they don't like it's going to get rowdy. I believe the solution is more space and a better customer experience. Bigger airplanes, less passengers, higher prices, there are other options.

Unfortunately, very few people are willing to pay for that, which makes it an unviable business model. I always buy first class tickets. I ain’t risking upgrade roulette and getting stuck in coach. But almost every other person I’m sitting with in first? Free upgrades from status. Very few people are actually paying for it.

Stay off the drugs, kids.

But what drug specifically, still waiting for the resident expert to chime in.

Seriously.

When masks become optional

Optional here in AZ, just went to the grocery store, Chipotle and Wells Fargo, maskless. No one screamed at me to put my mask on, In fact no one said anythign to Jason and I. Majority of people in all three places were maskless, saw very few people except employees masked.

Ridiculous that people can’t see this.

You have passengers already on edge because flying sucked before COVID, now they have mask nazi FAs screaming about mask compliance every 5 minutes…..combine that with alcohol and it’s a recipe for disaster.

This idiotic mask mandate is causing more trouble than it’s worth. Flying on airplanes never was a super spreading type activity, so why are we still doing this?

You mean employees doing their jobs? What's the alternative here? If you're flying DL. FA's have no union. Are you, @Cherokee_Cruiser and @SlumTodd_Millionaire offering to donate some cash toward their unemployment expenses? Or are you three just bellyaching. Seriously, we know you guys hate it, but why are you guys going so hard after employees doing their jobs. Even if they might be doing it a bit too zealously as you all claim. I'd love to hear options here.

Questions for DL peeps:
1) Is the woman who is trying to explain to the cop what is going on a FA or gate agent?
2) Why is the CA meeting the police in the jet bridge? Don’t you guys have a DL rep who handles all issues like that on the ground?

No armchair QB’ing here, just wondering how other airlines deal with things.

1. The full set of wings say “Flight Attendant”
2. I don’t know. Having had passengers removed from the jet, I’ve often been in the jetway speaking with the supervisor, the lead FA and the gate agent in order to make sure we’re all on the same sheet of music and also to speak with law enforcement once they arrive. That way when they get on the jet, there should be 100% less “Sewwwwwwww, what’s goin’ on?” In front of passengers and a lower profile in order for someone to video and drive a false narrative.

It’s how I roll, but not specially company procedure.

Probably the only time I ended up on, potentially, video was when we were ejecting a passenger who demanded I speak with him in the jetway andI said, “I’d love a glazed donut, but that’s not happening either” because I was frustrated.

Here's another great one complete with nice armpit hairs (I don't have anything against it :p)

The cop asked the FA; Row "34, where's that at?"

My answer would have been; "It's between rows 33 and 35."

Sometimes I don't know my mouth is loaded.

My expectations aren’t much: enforce the government‘s idiotic mask mandate no more vigorously than you enforce the seatbelt sign mandate. In other words, not at all.

They should have voted in a union years ago. But that Delta KoolAid is too strong.

So in other words, nothing. I mean if you wanted me to lose my job, I'm gonna need you to have some skin in the game. You want them to risk their livelihood for your comfort.

That's a nice statement, but it doesn't address my question. If they stop doing their jobs, you know enforcing masks on planes. What kind of compensation are you and other people so strongly opposed to wearing mask on planes going to do to help them financially for resisting?

There hasn’t been a single airline employee terminated for failure to enforce the mask mandate. I would bet any amount of money on that. Because again, failure to enforce the mask mandate is no different than failure to enforce the seatbelt sign mandate. And nobody seems worried about that.

Let there be a video showing that the f/a's aren't enforcing it and they might start. Also if an f/a wrote up a pilot for taking a can of orange juice out of the trolly cart. If I were an f/a trust and believe, that I'm going to do my job and enforce mask in the plane. I'm just in complete awe that you as a 1% business owner with your annual salary, are suggesting that people making signifigantly less than you annually possibly risk their livelihood to appease your comfort level. Especially when you continue to talk out of the side of your mouth about empathy. When you also expect your employees to follow your rules that you create for your business. Screams of hypocrisy.

Alright Max,

You're the CA inflight at 35,000 ft. FA calls you and says we have a pax and he isn't complying with the face mask. FA tells pax to put it on, but the pax has politely refused each time. He is polite and says he does not want to wear the mask inflight anymore.

WWYD...

At least it's not all the passengers ("Pasangers:biggrin:) getting involved in a massive brawl, like this one last Tuesday at Harrah's Casino in Atlantic City, the old stomping ground of the Emperor Trumpy.
Believe it or not it was a Realtor's convention and some of these suckers paid over $1,600 a night when the regular rate is a little over $100 bucks. Maybe you can spot your real estate agent or mortgage guy throwing punches and beating the competitor with a genuine weaponized Harrah's chair. I was trying for a second to imagine airplane passengers ripping the aircraft seats and beating each other with it, in the ISR world we don't deal with that, just like freight guys don't hear complains from the boxes... So I'm very Happy (I sing the Happy Happy, Joy Joy song on my way to work :bounce:) just like Ren Hoek
