Southwest Opening Sept.

I have a hard time believing that many people applied but what do I know lol. Seems like a 40 question test that wasn't monitored as closely as it could have been couldn't possibly be selective enough to narrow it down. The math on that alone doesn't track. There were also multiple people that were qualified that weren't even offered the opportunity to test. So then that would mean more than 600 people applied? I just cant see that being a thing. But I'll refer back to my first sentence, what do I know?

Another thing I'll throw out there is how many of those applicants applied that didn't have the year of experience required that just applied because their dispatcher school told them to anyways?

One of them failed out of ATC school and is definitely on the spectrum…so the chances of him working at a legacy/major are slim to none.
That's a pretty ignorant statement. I'm on the spectrum and got hired at a legacy. Anyone who knows anything about "the spectrum" (Autism) would know that an Autistic person whose special interest is aviation is the perfect candidate. And I can tell you there are several coworkers of mine that are also on the spectrum and probably don't even know it.

The spectrum comment was completely inappropriate, who cares about that?! I know people on the spectrum, or gay or non binary!
Has absolutely nothing to do with how smart a person is!
Some people are just ignorant!

Just to add this point, WN had a decent problem with people doing exactly this. All I will say is that for anyone reading this that did this, I would back out of the hiring process now before you make it any further in the process. Better to do it now rather than later because they obviously will find out, they will not hire you, and worst case you end up on the secret "do not hire on any future posting" list. They only offer a certain number of spots to interview people and during one of the last classes they found out very late in the process that some people lied. All this did was hurt someone else's chances who was actually qualified for the position.

I sat through the Career Connections webinar they did last month that had a spotlight on the DX position and they stated multiple times that you needed a DX license in hand with a year of either:

Part 121 Experience (any position)
Part 135 Experience (any position)
Equivalent Military Experience

Granted not everyone that applied obviously attended that but that was the whole point of the qualifying questions but alas, people will still lie on the application, and over the course of the hiring process it'll come to light that they did. Much like some that do super well on the assessment test, only to get to the technical interview and have it come to light that they cant even build a route on a Hi-Low Chart.

TLDR: People suck and there's probably a margin of error that HR has to account for when accounting for those people. (i.e. "we want a class of 40 but wound up with 35, despite getting xxx applicants")

In talking with about a half dozen other colleagues that have also taken the test, all with varying levels of experience and exposure in the 'spatch world; average scores have been in the low 70%-mid 80% range. Now we wait.

I wasn't gonna mention that bc I didn't wanna beat a dead horse. If they really did make that high of a score then I'd say hats off to them. But talking to people who have taken the Southwest exam previously, with multiple years experience, some as supervisors and others as trainers, the highest score any of them made was an 85. Sooooo yo no se. like I said. Now we wait :)

You are 100% correct. That was an ignorant statement, and I should not have posted it.

Email invites to the HR Phone screening have been going out over the last few hours it seems. Myself, as well as a few colleagues have all received invites.
