I figured when I first got on here and the fact that I was just learning how to fly that I should keep my mouth shut and read more than I type. That pgilosphy stuck with me lol.Get in touch with @Cherokee_Cruiser. He keeps tags on peeps. Not the best, but he can get you started in the right direction.![]()

Where are you based?Would any of you be willing to PM me details about the current health care choices offered at SKW? I emailed the benefits people and they referred me to the website which doesn't go into specifics. Just trying to figure out the options with the wife. TIA!
No base yet. In the January 19th ERJ class.Where are you based?
Just for PDX it looks like the most junior guaranteed lineholder is 9/2015, although there's plenty of people ahead of him not bidding so in reality it's probably someone more junior than that. LAX is super senior. ORD is almost ridiculous compared to the CRJ. I'm a 7/15 and keep getting further and further from a line on that thing there. How long for reserve for 175 in LAX, PDX, SEA now?
Ill tentatively be done with training early January and am trying for one of these.
Looks like the most junior FO on either is an ERJ 10/2016 hire for SFO. Probably not hard at all to get it on either airframe. Right now anyway you're probably still going to hold a line much faster on the CRJ in any base.So I'll just apologize if I ask a redundant question that has already been asked. Sorry.
Thinking about switching over to 121 and it seems as if Skywest is a good choice.
How hard would it be to hold SFO as a new hire?
What aircraft should I bid to make sure I get SFO as my base?
I own a home 2 hours from SFO. Will this work for reserve? If I am put on reserve? What kind of schedule should I expect? Reserve?
Thanks!!!

If you want to be on the west coast, go to the Embraer. A few months ago, that would have sounded ludicrous. Things are changing really fast on the ERJ in LAX. I'm on the CRJ (for two more weeks), have been on property 14 months, and BARELY hold a line in LA. I'm bidding over to the ERJ because I will go from bidding at about 78% on the CRJ, to 55% on the Embraer. Plus the DVR says 21 more FO's for January. Things are changing, that's for sure.Looks like the most junior FO on either is an ERJ 10/2016 hire for SFO. Probably not hard at all to get it on either airframe. 2 drive would be risky. Short call is 2 hours, so close enough as is but with Bay Area traffic you'd really be chancing it. Once you're able to get long call (12 hour) it'd be a little better.
I'm probably slightly out of the loop on some of the stuff for newer guys but feel free to shoot me a PM if you want. Things are changing fairly rapidly. I was hired in July of '15 and have probably 1,100 guys junior to me now. It's slowed a little but it gives a little bit of an idea how fast things were changing for a while.
It bears repeating that a voluntary jet-copilot-to-jet-copilot transition will incur a 24 month seat lock. (Yes, I looked. See SP3023.8. I feel like this should be at the top of the Standing Bid List. Which, a link to the Standard Practice is, anyway.)If you want to be on the west coast, go to the Embraer. It'll work, but you'll basically need to be ready to roll as soon as the phone rings, depending on where you are and what the traffic conditions are like. I sat reserve on the Brasilia in LAX from Camarillo and I basically took bag/uniform with me everywhere I went. Short call is 120 minutes from notification to report. Be advised, it may take a while to get into the terminal in SFO, unless you take BART in (in which case, you basically walk right into the building). So I'll just apologize if I ask a redundant question that has already been asked. Sorry.
