Skywest Questions

I'm on the e-jet. Thanks for letting me know about the crew room. I'm actually in uniform because it says to be in uniform on the form for the observation flights. I may just head down there and check it out.
I am also SFO based but on the CRJ.. I still don't know how I let them talk me into th Barbie jet when I interviewed. Every RSR report gets more depressing. Welcome aboard!

They're cutting the CRJ out there aren't they? Seems like almost 6 months ago I read it was the fastest place to hold a line...

I'm SFO based on the E-175. If there's anything I can do to help, or any information you need, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hey thanks. I'm sitting around at SFO again today trying to knock out the next 2 observation flights. I'm guessing it will be a bit of a nightmare again with this WX.

I sat reserve for 3 months non consecutively a year ago (one month in MSP, one month in DEN and one month at SFO) and that was it, one of those months was a composite line.

Just shows you how fast things change. If you are in a United base, your best bet is to go ERJ at this point.
In hindsight, I maybe should have picked the ERJ for a west coast base. Thankfully it hasn't covered SLC yet. I figured I'm going to upgrade on the CRJ so may as well take the CRJ on the FO side. The reserve time sounded longer on the ERJ but really back in September there was arguments for both jets. Oh well, still can't complain. I'm enjoying life.

No, it was Navy blue. I had it custom made when I was stationed in Japan some years back, it still fit so I wore it

Gotta watch out for those Japanese tailors. They can get carried away!

When I was interviewed (July 2016) they told me picking the CRJ would not be a problem for a west coast base. Within a month Delta announced more ERJ's in Seattle, PDX closed as a CRJ base, and United started shifting crj's out east. So now SFO lost like 20 lines for April compared to March. Most of the 700 flying is gone. At this point I am really wishing I picked the ERJ. It will still take 5-6 more months to get SEA. By that time the CRJ might be dead there as well.

I've heard that the seat lock isn't exactly non negotiable, and it is based on company need. I'll try to talk to them at the 1 year mark to see if I bid ERJ. I almost feel like transferring to ORD just to get a line, but I do not think the SEA-ORD commute will be fun times. For now I will just be dying on reserve in SFO.

Well, I would imagine someone doing an observation flight will have some questions. Might be kind of nice to ask those questions during the flight? I would think it was pretty weird to do an observation flight and not bring a headset myself.

I wasn't aware that the observer's pair of headphones didn't have a mic. Most places they just toss an extra DC/Telex back there and call it a day.

Odd. We have a full set of Telex 750's at each jumpseat. That way when they get fried, it's handy just to grab a backup.

I use my own headsets. Ain't nobody got time for no Herpes Simplex.
