I'm uncertain what Delta has to do with this. Are you going to try to tear them down because they're at the top of the heap of US airlines? They do what they and other folks do, they just do it better. Rather than trying to find the cracks in that castle perhaps you might try to emulate that castle. Sub Commander uniforms and hats seem to convey a sense of professionalism that the public wants when they put their lives into the hands of these people. Think about a surgeon, if your mom was going to go under for a major surgery would you want the doctor to show up in cut-off sweats, flip flops and a trucker hat? That sloppy dude might be the best surgeon ever but if you say you'd be comfortable I'd say you're being dishonest. Airline pilot is an aspirational job. Once you get there you should treat it as such. Wear the • hat and the uniform and do your job. I'm not saying saying I hate pilots, I have friends that are pilots and I are one but in this space it seems as if trying to tear down is more important than building up. You got a number at an airline and that's what you're going to base the rest of your career on, that doesn't mean you have to base the rest of your life on it.
