Almost done with it - I'm halfway through and it's going really well so far (knock on wood!).

Yes I've been to The Locker Room. :D I was there last night.

I didn't realize how much people in North Carolina smoke. It's in every bar and restaurant. YUCK!!!

[/thead hijack]

True...there is more smoking in NC than anywhere else I've seen in the US.

When that's the live-blood of your state/region, it shouldn't be any surprise.

Same reason you don't talk about Airbus in Seattle.

Either way, it pales in comparison to Europe! Bunch of damn chimneys over here!

Well, no CLT for me then...

We have smoking bans here in AZ. and I love the fact that I can go to the bar, and not have to launder my clothes afterwards.

Hope GA is lke that too!

Why do you think you would have trouble getting picked up? It's not that the companys want to hire lowtime guys, it is just that they are scraping the bottom of the applicant barrel.

My concern isn't with ASA not picking me it up - but rather potentially, with my present employer.

You'll have a PM here shortly.

But if you had the job offered to you flying 37 passengers in Dash 8s after being unemployed and low on cash for 3 months, would you politely decline the offer saying "I'm sorry Mr. Recruiter, I have decided that I do not have enough experience and won't accept the position, even though other people with ultra low time will take my position anyway." ???

Yes, I did.

You're a role model for all of us Lloyd.

We all wish we could follow in your exact footsteps to the right seat of a jet. :sarcasm:

Then we would be worthy of your acceptance. Have you thought about doing a perspective article in your free time so that we can learn and follow in your exact footsteps to RJ FO fame?

Maybe some of us need to take a look at the Chris_Ford playbook and just never let anyone, publicly, know that you fly for a living - much less what company. That way you don't have to worry about other pilots giving you the cold shoulder because you didn't do it THEIR way. The school of hard knocks works for some, and for some, it was their only way. For others. . .who cares.

Chuck Norris? Lloyd is way better then him...Here's the formula:

Chuck Norris + Rod Machado + Mcgiver + Chuck Yeager + Stallone + Bob Hoover + Morgan Freeman = ~Lloyd

Just kidding my man!:D

I 110% agree with that. Everyone has their own paths in which they take to reach their goals. Not everyone can do it exactly the same way that someone else has, and it shouldnt be expected of others to "get there" the same way someone else has, or held against them.

When people ask what I do for a living, I tell them I'm a Rodeo Clown. Chicks dig it, and it saves time having to hear "You fly for XYZ airlines?...I just had the WORST flight on them! Let me tell you about it".

Didn't Chris Ford go to Purdue and work as a CFI for a time? Why would anyone get the cold shoulder for that?

Go Boilers.

I'm not talking about Chris (or any other CFI, to airline pilot individual) getting the cold shoulder.

What I'm talking about is guys giving others the cold shoulder because they didn't do it "their" way.

The Chris_Ford comment was meant to simply say that maybe it'd be best if many of us just never told anyone here on JC that we are actually employed at an airline, and more importantly, just never tell them what airline. That way we (they) don't open themselves up to criticism because they didn't do the whole "Marine - flight training - CFI - Flight express - ERJ pilot" route.

Hopefully that clears up any confusion.

Well....what fun would that be?

Doug might as well shut the place down if nobody talks about being employed at an airline.
