Almost done with it - I'm halfway through and it's going really well so far (knock on wood!).

Yes I've been to The Locker Room. :D I was there last night.

True...there is more smoking in NC than anywhere else I've seen in the US.

When that's the live-blood of your state/region, it shouldn't be any surprise.

Same reason you don't talk about Airbus in Seattle.

Either way, it pales in comparison to Europe! Bunch of damn chimneys over here!

We have smoking bans here in AZ. and I love the fact that I can go to the bar, and not have to launder my clothes afterwards.

Hope GA is lke that too!

Maybe some of us need to take a look at the Chris_Ford playbook and just never let anyone, publicly, know that you fly for a living - much less what company. That way you don't have to worry about other pilots giving you the cold shoulder because you didn't do it THEIR way. The school of hard knocks works for some, and for some, it was their only way. For others. . .who cares.

I 110% agree with that. Everyone has their own paths in which they take to reach their goals. Not everyone can do it exactly the same way that someone else has, and it shouldnt be expected of others to "get there" the same way someone else has, or held against them.

When people ask what I do for a living, I tell them I'm a Rodeo Clown. Chicks dig it, and it saves time having to hear "You fly for XYZ airlines?...I just had the WORST flight on them! Let me tell you about it".

Didn't Chris Ford go to Purdue and work as a CFI for a time? Why would anyone get the cold shoulder for that?

I'm not talking about Chris (or any other CFI, to airline pilot individual) getting the cold shoulder.

What I'm talking about is guys giving others the cold shoulder because they didn't do it "their" way.

The Chris_Ford comment was meant to simply say that maybe it'd be best if many of us just never told anyone here on JC that we are actually employed at an airline, and more importantly, just never tell them what airline. That way we (they) don't open themselves up to criticism because they didn't do the whole "Marine - flight training - CFI - Flight express - ERJ pilot" route.

Hopefully that clears up any confusion.
