Pubnat 5/6

The rush is that my husband has been out of work since April, we just had baby #3, we are FAST running out of money, and he needs this job now. We dont call every week, or even every month, so if a phone call to the Aviation people can answer a question or two then I'm going to call. I'm not looking to harass an HR rep, I'm just trying to find out what's going on. Besides that, those of us who had C.S. this whole time have had to deal with ignored emails and phone calls, so if we can connect with our new HR person maybe we could get some things straightened out. No one wants to slow this process down any further, but at some point we should be able to have questions answered by the people paid to be our liaisons.
:yeahthat: :clap:

The rumor mill it is a turning....

anyway, I called my HR rep today and her voice mail message stated that due to construction or something she would not be in her office today. I also called the woman from medical who sent me the clarification paperwork I had to have done. Her voice mail said that she would be out of the office for the rest of the week.

ugh

its the 15th and my news is that i was told today that i will not be hearing anything until october so its another push off....great

We act surprised when they push us off......I'm sorry but we should all have come to expect that from these folks. I'm treating the FAA like a bad football player....until they put out....I could care less what they have to say. I don't care about when they say they will have a date for me...hell, I'm half convinced that when I do get an OKC date, it too will be pushed back. So until they start showing something for themselves....I'm just going to work hard, make good money, and not even think about the FAA until my ass is in a chair at MMMC....it's pathetic, but their promises mean jack squat to me so far. It warns you to watch your back once you're in....once you're in, you take care of you, and don't trust anyone to get stuff done....I'd rather them say to me "look D-bag, you ain't getting a date until at least April, so stop calling" than, "we'll have an answer mid to late september" and then push it back to Oct. Please......I'd trust Kanye's words over theirs at this time.

<sorry guys, I had to vent>

There is a fine reason they keep telling you to check back or that it should be X date: the answers literally change every few hours, so what they tell you at 10AM could change by 5PM. Most, if not all, of the reps are working a 7AM-6PM shift because of all of this stuff that's happening. Facilities dramatically reduced hiring numbers because of A.) the economy, B.) reduced air travel, C.) decreased retirement rates across the country, and D.) the new pay bands taking up the large portion of the FAA's budget. I've been told it could potentially be FY2011 before a slot opens at my TOL'ed facility, even though one person is being promoted to supervisor from ATC and another is retiring in 5 months. I'm hoping that gives me a chance for early next year.

Take a chill pill; you're in PUBNAT6 and have parts of 5-6 groups ahead of you. They go in order of facility need (of which 25% were reduced to a need of "0" for FY2010, even after we got TOLs for them -- my facility is one of those), and then they go in order of TOL or clearance expiration date, whichever expires first. I'm technically 2nd in line out of 3 people in process for my facility, but I get moved to the front because my medical clearance expires before #1.

You know what they know when they know it. If they have an opening for you, you'll know as soon as possible. If you don't hear anything, stay frustrated; I know I am. I've been pushed back from May to June/July to August to end of August to mid-September to "we don't really know" over the past 7 months, so I know what it's like. I'm partially at peace... kind of like a person with a terminal illness and no chance of living much longer. I just want to know how much longer I have on this earth, and then I'll be at peace. Just get me to knowing my class date, and I'll be okay. I actually wonder if I'll even be excited anymore.

I totally agree with you. I understand there are folks before me that don't have dates....but thats not the point. I don't care if I go after them, I'm not complain because I don't have a date. I am complaining because I am told one thing and then another thing happens. Frankly, there is no excuse for that. They should just tell people nothing until they actually have a date for folks. I'd be more at peace at that point, but leading me up then letting me down.....it's a roller coaster that I don't like riding. As far as being excited when I get a class date....pft, I agree. I don't know how stoked I will be either. Good insight Jerms.

I think they should re-make the master list of candidates and issue start dates/fol's on a large scale to those with sooner expiring clearances - and just assign us somewhere within reasonable distance from our current address..

that'd line me up for SFO/OAK/ZOA/CCR/STS/APC/SAC..etc and NorCal tracon. i'd take 'em if I could at this point. (if it ment getting in sooner)

Damn! You're still waiting?

Just show up at the MMAC on Thursday and tell them that you're there for your class. :D

Forget Raydon; don't tempt me on this...

The clearances you obtained after going through your pre-employment stuff -- medical, primarily. It's more costly for the FAA to send you back through your screenings (including re-taking the MMPI), so they try to move people through quicker if their clearance is expiring instead of those with TOL preference. That's how I got bumped from number 2 in line to number 1.

I'm going to OKC dudes.....November 4th. :beer::beer::beer::beer:. I'm excited man.....good luck to the rest of you guys. Seems they are starting to assign us dates!
