Pubnat 5/6

Hi guys and gals,

Just had a quick question about the hotels that everyone is choosing to stay at for everyone going to the Chicago PEPC either on the 22nd or the 23rd (for all the enroute folks).

Assuming that the address given above (2300 East Devon Avenue Des Plaines, IL 60018) is correct, there seems to be 2 hotels that are really close to the PEPC center (The Hyatt & The Courtyard by Marriott). Is it reasonable to assume that one could walk the distance to the PEPC center?

Sorry but I am not from the Chicago area and am just wondering if a rental car would be a feasible option to look at.

By the way, if people are up for it, car pool would not be a bad idea ...... would love the chance to meet some of you folks:)

I read in another thread that the Hyatt is only about 3 blocks from the FAA Building where the PEPC is held. So that is def. walking distance....if weather is an issue you could take a cab for a couple of dollars.

I don't think you'd need a rental car for anything, unless you're planning a long distance excursion while you're there. If you are just going for the PEPC then staying at the Hyatt with no car will work fine for you.
 
Just to help the guy with his spreadsheet, I'm not registered on SM and headed for ZLA.

I got my email yesterday for PEPC - June 23 Tuesday 09:00am :D

AK was my first choice. It kills me to see pepc invites to people who dont even want to go there.

So I originally received Alabama, and now I got my second choice for Alaska. I hope I am able to get Anchorage.
 
All this talk about people getting switched after they've received one PEPC invite is starting to freak me out. Especially the line that reads "this message supercedes all messages prior to may XX, 2009..." I'm all for going to ZAU, and I really don't want to be switched mid-celebration. Oh well, at least I've got the job, right?

The reason mine was switched was because I got another person's e-mail. The e-mail address was correct, but all the other information was different. I had called the number listed at the bottom of the e-mail, and they told me that they had some problems with syncing e-mails to names, and that a corrected e-mail would be sent. A few hours later, I received my updated e-mail that had all the information correct, including the area I had been selected for.

Long story short, as long as your notification e-mail has your personal information correct, then it truly is yours. :crazy:
 
I guess this is just more evidence that I am taking every opportunity to freak out!! :crazy::crazy: But thanks for clearing it up. :D

I would rather go to ATL but since this is my husbands career and he really wants to go to ZAU, I don't want anything to go wrong.
 
Just saw this post over on Stuck Mic...this could be an indication of several things:

well.............speaking of exciment..........apparently the PEPC availability for Center invites has reached has reached maximum capacity. Out of everyone that got emails for a center, only 100 spots were reserved for interviews at the PEPC. Gotta love it. I got an email saying i would have to interview with a facility in my area. Upside.........i might, and i say that with caution, actually get to interview b4 the PEPC since we basically make our own date and time for the interview after your local facility contacts u. That is what my rep said, I think. Anyone know anyone that had to do this that can give us some good info?

Apparently all enroute interview slots have been filled. People are being forced to go the traditional route. That could either mean that no other PEPCs will be happening anytime soon, or that this first group of emails really is only for FY'09 folks and anyone else who gets an invite in the coming days/week can pretty much be assured they are FY'10.
 
Hello everyone - I've been reading in on from time to time on everything going back and forth, but first time joining in. I have recently been notified for ARTCC ZDC, crazy thing is how a lot of people got ZAU but I didn't. Good enough to have something- no complaints- If anyone needs further help with local ORD area, I've been here all my life glad to help! Anyone interested in a swap? :-) Exciting times!!

No one is going to be hired for FY09. That is the biggest rumor circulating on JC and SM.
 
It definitely seems that more invites for Center positions than for Terminal positions went out this week. I am guessing that more Terminal invites will go out in the next week or two. My question is: were the invites distributed in a similar fashion for the other Pubnats?

This is different than how it was before. Apparently last time around only Terminal emails went out over the first couple of days. After that Terminal emails slowed and enroute emails started to go out later in the week. This time both terminal and enroute emails started going out at the same time.

Also last time people were receiving two emails...one with the PEPC invite, and the other with their facility. So far no one with Terminal really knows what their facility is going to be. The second could still come later though.
