Pubnat 5/6

I actually had dinner with a guy from ATC who explained all the PUBNATS, ATSATS, GEOPREFS, CTI's, etc.

Pretty interesting stuff!

Just thought I'd share.

I love talking to actual controllers! My unlce was a controller at Oberlin and I grill him every time I see him! I was kind of bummed at first when I got picked up for CLE and not ZOB, but now that I have visited CLE, I have changed my mind. I'm just grateful to have a TOL!
 
Well, anything I can do to help you guys out, let me know. Suggestions are warmly welcomed.

I think I take offense to this statement. :)

But no, I don't think anyone got an email dated after Tuesday (5/19). Itseemed to be all at once and then nothing.

Yeah I lose track of the days too, no offense. Just trying to occupy myself and give myself more reasons to think optimistically.
 
For anyone that's still waiting for a PEPC confirmation email... it doesn't necessarily mean that you didn't get a PEPC timeslot. I know there are lots of rumors going around that all the enroute slots are filled (which might be true, but you might have one of them!). Someone on SM called and was told that more confirmation emails will be coming out next week. So you might have a slot and just not know it yet.
 
When I read the part of the email that said "All enroute candidates will be processed on Monday and Tuesday of that week. We will be processing approximately 50 candidates per day; therefore we may not be able to accommodate everyone at this time. ' I just assumed they meant that En Route persons will take priority over Terminal persons, so terminal people might be bumped. It never occurred to me that they would send out more emails than available slots and watch us all fight over them like hungry dogs. It also didn't occur to me that when it said "We have scheduled a PEPC for the week of June 22, 2009 in Chicago, IL." that a week consisted of 2 days.

I'm really not trying to be Debbie Downer, but I got my PEPC invite at 2:31pm on Tuesday (5/19). Responded back that I would like Monday(6/22) as my 1st choice at 4:24pm the same day (5/19). I got a response back from them on Wednesday(5/20) at 4:19pm telling me that I am scheduled for Tuesday (6/23) for 11am. I know people were getting emails earlier than others, but in the 2 hours between my email and my response Monday, and the first part of Tuesday were filled.

I really hope that everyone who got an invite got a spot, but according to the email, it doesn't look that way. But seriously, speaking as one who has been through this many times before, we should all just be thankful to HAVE invites, even if it means the longer (maybe/maybe not) Non-PEPC route. The guys out there who havent gotten their invites yet would GLADLY trade with us, I'm sure.
 
im not sure if it worked that way because i was out of town and didnt respond until 10 pm on 5-19 and I got an 8 am PEPC time on the 22nd
 
How optimistic should I be considering I have not received an e-mail yet? I know it's a couple week process but I haven't heard much from anyone receiving later in the week e-mails. Maybe early next week they'll send another batch out? I'm still hopeful.

BE HOPEFUL!!!! It ain't over until your ASAP page says "sorry but we chose someone else!!! Don't give up. :)
 
im really hopiong a second batch comes out next week. because if you think about it they only sent them out in 1 day and only 2 PEPC days. that means just over 100 candidates chosen if they expect most people to chose PEPC. only 100 or so people and they need to fill a couple thousand jobs by 2015. im hoping they are just doing a new system where they try and spread out the time between applicants so the system dosnt get overwhelmed and people sit around for months waiting for a class date.
 
don't forget that these are 2 month-long Pubnats combined. Stands to reason that more emails should go out than in previous rounds.

I'd rather be waiting for a class date than an email, to be honest. I'd gladly wait until 2010 or 2011 for a job, as long as I knew it was coming. This uncertainty is what sucks so badly. Not knowing whether I should start looking for another career or not.

i dont get it. they send out 100 invites and im sure thousands are in the 5/6 pubnat hiring groups

i mean could they have thousands more from previous pubnats in the pipeline ready to go to the academy????

i hear how their in dire need of bodys and they go and select a small percentage of the whole WQ/Q group???

this country boggles my minds sometimes:panic:

I like your thinking here. Positive posts really help me mellow out, since I basically just graduated college and have no plan b for a solid career at this point. The other fun part is graduating from college and going out into the world that's going through a terrible economic period (with a business degree, nonetheless), and struggling to even find an entry level position. So, basically, where I'm going with this is thanks for positive reinforcement. I think we could all use it.

:yeahthat: I'm in the same boat, Comm major, graduated last April and haven't even gotten a call back for something in my field.

And Paul, still no PA emails from what I have seen, PA is my first choice too, I replied to a different post of yours a couple days ago regarding the subject.
