Planes crash...(Butte, MT PC-12)

Re: Planes crash...

Something about 09' I don't know too many people that are having a good 09'

Re: Planes crash...

This hits home, I work at Table Mountian Aviation at the Oroville airport. My supervisor called me a few hours ago and told me about this. He said their were several kids between 7 and 10 years old. I am going to check to see if this wasnt one of the regular PC-12 fly-ins that took care of special needs children.

RIP

CNN (and other sources) is still reporting the 17 figure, which supposedly came from the FAA.

It seems physically impossible, it seems incredibly irresponsible, and it is certainly not legal. There's something mysterious about this crash...

Re: Planes crash...

Seems like we've been having a rash of transport category aircraft crashing recently.

Re: Planes crash...

My Aunt is best friends of the owner of the FBO where the plane was going to park. Apparently the line guy was out on the ramp with chalks ready, and heard the crash. He walked around the corner of the building and saw flames shooting up as high as the pine trees. Anyways, according to the FBO owner there were 17 on board. I'm not sure where he got his info, or if he was just repeating what the news said, but that's the word I got.

Thats one thing that I have seen a lot with this type of flight, overloaded airplanes with to many kids. I guess they think that kids can double up. I have a feeling I know the pilot very well as the N number seams very familiar.

PC-12 Full of kids crash..

The 2009 Pilatus PC-12 crash occurred in a cemetery in the northern U.S. state of Montana at approximately 15:27 local time (21:27 GMThttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_M...e_note-.27Children_die.27_in_US_plane_crash-0) on March 22, 2009. Up to seventeen people, including an unconfirmed number of children, are reported to have died in the incident. The children were said to have been returning from or heading off on a ski trip and weather conditions were described as cloudy. The aircraft involved is a Pilatus PC-12, a single engine turboprophttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_M...e_note-.27Children_die.27_in_US_plane_crash-0 which is certificated for a maximum of nine passengersA rescue operation is ongoing.

Crash details

The plane was flying from Oroville in California to Bozeman, Montana about 85 miles (136 kilometers) southeast of the town of Butte, Montana.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_M...ite_note-FAA:_17_die_in_Montana_plane_crash-3However, at some point en route the pilot "canceled" his flight plan and diverted towards the Butte. According to a witness, the plane crash-landed into Holy Cross Cemetery 500 (150) from Bert Mooney Airport. A local convenience store employee informed the BBC that weather conditions were cloudy in the area at the time The fatalities included a number of children who were suspected to have been returning home from a ski triphttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_M..._note-Several_killed_in_Montana_plane_crash-5 It is not thought that anyone died on the groundhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_M..._note-Several_killed_in_Montana_plane_crash-5 Onlookers rushed to take photographs of the crash with one reporting of her attempts to help the victims alongside her husband except that "there was nothing to help" and that she had watched the plane "just take a nosedive right into the cemetery" Photographs show gigantic orange flames and smoke billowing up against a foreground of tombstones. Luggage and plane parts are strewn across the scene.

Sadly many more are waiting to happen. Just a couple years ago the industry seeded itself with very low experience levels in positions that usually demanded higher levels of experience. Many/most of these low time guys/gals will make it and within a few years they will have filled in their lack of experience with a whole lot of OJT...... If you were one of them, learn all you can. Pick brains. Be a sponge. Stay in the books and be a "Go-To-Guy/Gal" A small percentage, point, zero, zero, something are ticking time bombs waiting to go off. Just a matter of time. When it happens, CNN Headline News......; A picture of Homer as the Captain....; and "Do'h" as the final sound recorded on the CVR before "End of recording"

While you are "sowing your wild oats" do not try this in your CRJ: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SzI5EJ8C6c&feature=channel_page

The next seeding has begun. It's called MPL. The MPL effect will be significantly worse and is going to create great discomfort for the insurance underwriters. They are going to get fatigued writing large checks with lots of zeros.

Here is where the plot thickens as the perfect storm begins to brew; Just as the "Low time" guys /gals are upgrading they will find themselves paired with a newly minted, bright eyed MPL FO.

Where does it all end? Usually at the graveyard. Looks like the Pilatus just went straight there.:(

Re: Planes crash...

7 adults and 7 children aboard. Sad day for their families. :(

RIP.

Man.. unreal.

The think that eeks me is the PC-12 is not a 14 passenger plane whatsoever. Usually the congiguration is six in back and two up front. The way the pilot had the plane packed would be equal to having 7 in a C182.

I am not going to say for certain but I hope this isn't a careless error in loading the plane far beyond it's limits.

interesting thought, but doesn't add up! 3 of the 5 crashes you quoted did not have "low experience level " pilots behind the controls!

Re: Planes crash...

Yeah uhm, what? Low time Fedex pilot? I'm pretty low time by Fedex standards, if you have the sekrit low time phone number, PM me.
