Re: Colgan q400 down in buf

goodspeed to all involved. To say it bluntly to all who read this post, please refrain from speculation at least at this time. Now is time to reflect and show respect.

Message boards seem to have dominant groups. On APC, FedEx and UPS are the two dominant groups. Here at JC, Colgan is represented by many members who are delightful and make the place more fun. I think that is why this is particularly bad for people here - even if the crew weren't JC users, they are known and liked by our JC users so it is more personal and the loss is causing our Colgan friends pain. Also, I saw the Colgan thing, before the post that said "no JC members" and I was really kind of queesy - that is another reason this hits hard - going from the feeling of dread, to the joy that your friends weren't killed, to the immediate feelings of guilt because you were happy it wasn't your friends.

:(MSNBC here in Philly confirms all 48 aboard plus 1 on the ground are dead. Terrible, terrible news, and may God be with the deceaced and all others affected. Honestly on a personal level I have not felt this way since 7/17/1996 (The last time I watched news of a crash break live) when TWA 800 went down off Long Island. I was at the time campaigning for a seat in the Pennsylvania State Senate (Lost the Republican primary), and I stopped in a bar to hand out palm cards. I remeber the sinking feeling I felt in my stomach when I walked in and saw the image on the TV of burning jet fuel on the Atlantic. Needless to say I stayed for a few (or 10) beers to watch the news and forgot to even hand out my campaign cards. May all fly safely.

Aside from the fact there are many Colganites on JC, I wonder if it's because those of us in the aviation community have had the good fortune of no fatal accidents for the past 2-3 years. Maybe that lends itself to feeling invincible. The tragedy that occurred tonight just brings it all home, I guess.

My thoughts go out to the families and friends of those lost.

To my friends at Colgan; I'm sorry for the loss of your crew members.

I cannot believe this, and this hits very close to home for me as I knew the FA's. They truly were the best FA's I've ever worked with. They were both my mothers age and treated me like I was their own son. I don't know... I just don't know and can't believe this is happening.

I was employed by Comair when the LEX crash happened, and flew through CVG the next day (and got stuck there that night). After being a part of JC for a few years now and flying out of BHB, I almost feel like part of the Colgan family too.

I guess I need to stay the heck away from any airline.

Man, this hurts a lot.

Colgan is an airline with good people, good airplanes and a good attitude.

I would never wish this feeling of sadness, disgust, inconsolibility that I feel right now. Those are my family members.

There are really no words to describe how I feel right now. God help us.

God help me wake up from this horrible night mare. God help everyone involved.

Even though I'm glad no one from here was directly involved my sympathy goes out to you guys/gals/pilots/fa's of Colgan who lost coworkers and loved ones.:( Hang in there and appreciate the life you have.

Amen to that...Were you with them in YUL Sunday/Monday?

Really about the last thing you want to see when mid-evening channel surfing. :(

Just terrible terrible news, thankfully it was nobody here. But we're all so closely connected...

Yeah, I knew the entire crew. Unbelievable! In fact, I just saw the FA's a few days ago and I'd flown w/ both of them about 1 month ago. They were a great pair and they always bid their trip together! I'm in complete disbelief. :(

I also heard we had at least one additional crew member non-reving in the back....although, I can't confirm this as of yet.
