Oh Skywest (or Southwest)?

Ehhh ... it happens.

I don't think anybody is surprised that it happened. We've all been there, or been close to there before. In fact, several aircraft types have radio setups that will beep or chirp if you transmit more than X seconds straight.

The bigger issue is that the clown was saying what he was saying. But that said, I don't think many people are surprised that it was said by a pilot.

It's the least surprising thing I've heard this year.

I just wanna point out that "rolling coal" isn't really a Texas thing ... maybe not even really a Southern thing. I always picture it as squarely the domain of Ohio and western Pennsylvania. And apparently New Hobbittonshire.

Texas-style is more like "lets swarm a politician's bus on the highway aggressively, not puff some soot as we toodle-oo past." (:()

Part of me wants to believe this pilat was doing a bit and accidentally broadcast.

I think it's a 909 thing. The folks in The Valley Of The Dirt People seem to lead a lot of ridiculous trends, flat bills, hoop piercings, and dumb tattoos. Surf and ski in the same day, that's Socal.

Guys voice sounds like he knows he’s on the air and putting on a show. Otherwise, he sounds like a real idiot in everyday life.

edit: posted before I saw @Minuteman say the same above.

I almost wonder if he was trolling. The part about coal-rolling seems over the top enough that it just might be a bit.

Way too common. The worst are the ones who don't take the hint when you turn off the intercom and stare silently out the window.

I will readily admit that by virtue of the color of my skin, everyone assumes my politics.

Which is fine. THey’re usually wrong, but that means that I’m (mostly) never exposed to the bigoted views of a-holes.

I don’t think most pilots realize that the stronger your views, the more your copilot is biting his tongue and just wants to get through the day. It’s not my copilots job to validate how I feel about anything, including things that are operationally-related. If I make a crappy decision and do something stupid, I say in my brief “I’m not Xerxes, I’m human. If something is outside of your comfort zone, speak up. I will (pre-COVID) buy you a beer for speaking up, I’ll buy you two if you’re wrong”

So if I go on some non-operational rant, I fully expect that they’re just going to shut-down, nod and smile to get through the day and think “I didn’t come to work to provide emotional support for the captain”.

Don’t see why it matters, we are in the era of everyone is offended and feelings matter. I just flew with a guy, who said he does not bring up politics or religion in the cockpit, well guess who did, this captain was the other side of this guy. And unfortunately I’ll have to explain to my mother in law that she does drive her Hyundai too slow...

•This sky god is better than this sky god
•This region of the country is better than.....
•This political belief is better than the others
•These set of people are way better than these

Just stop it. I’m not here to validate your beliefs and the same goes for my crew mates towards me. Like @Derg said my skin color probably filters out a lot of the B.S. that people want to bring up.

Have you seen how poorly airline pilots dress?

I was in for some physical therapy a few years back. She commended me on using cargo shorts/pants and not sitting on my wallet. It apparently throws ones posture out of wack and leads to back problems.
