Oh Alaska/Boeing

Yes, the MCAS debacle should have been a wake up call for Boeing but it appears that they missed out on an opportunity to take a hard look in the mirror. But hey, at least 737s will continue to be dirt cheap. If this doesn’t light a fire under them I don’t know what will.
*shrug* they did as much as they had to to make the stock price go up and no more. That’s capital for ya.

Scapegoating brown people for failures of capitalism is not a good look in this, or any, century.
They've moved in to saying the quiet part out loud, as the saying goes. I have seen an absolute upswing in direct bigotry, expressed openly as if it were factual.

This can't become ok again. Misogyny, racism, etc, must be put down. Do not tolerate, do not ignore, do not look past.

This is absolutely bigotry masquerading as "genuine concern," as it has been since we started recognizing that even those not in the majority should have rights centuries+ ago.

Did you read?

It’s called FOCUS. Boeing is focused on DEI metrics, instead of, oh I don’t know, making sure an effing door plug doesn’t blow out.

But hey, check out our hiring!
I get it now. Fox News was on in the crew lounge earlier (because IAH) and they were having a big knock down drag out about DEI. So yet again, it’s the just the TV telling you to be angry at something you don’t need to be angry at.

I’ve heard that if you’re the first one in the crew lounge in the morning you can turn on CNN, take the batteries out of the remote and throw them away, then hide the remote behind the coffee machine. If you were inclined to do such a thing…
I would never be the first person in the lounge; I’m far too for that type of schedule.

Haha did anyone tell him "welcome to the last 60 years of 737 flights"?

Lose one door plug outta PDX and suddenly you are a door plug f****er

In all seriousness though, people are insane. There are conspiracy theories now insinuating that the plug issue was somehow known, and the seats were intentionally not occupied. What sense does that make? People are so F'ing dumb.......especially dumb when they think they are being "smart". Why is everyone looking for a conspiracy in every single possible thing? We are doomed, as a species. Just accept it.....we are particularly ignorant of everything in the world that we don't directly deal with daily. We are dumb, and we overvalue our "intuition". We make stupid judgements that turn out to be BS. You can have a lot of peace in life when you come to this realization.

I’m a pilot. When we fly together, I have financial advice for you, some medical tips for vaccines, and how certain people are good for nothing DEI hires. ;)

I do imagine you actually know who Chris Hadfield is?…Im sure the OP was very much in jest.

But agreed; just the amount of sidetalk you hear on a commute makes me laugh…finally broke cover today when I could tell the person receiving such “wisdom” was on the verge of a breakdown after an hour:

Bystander “Ooh, that noise is them depressurizing early, I bet they all have to do that because the doors aren't safe”

On a 320neo….

Other PAX visibly shaking.

Me: “No…(barley repressed sigh) thats just the speed brakes…they tend to make you slow down quickly here; whole lot of noise, but very predictable”

Not like there hasn’t been design issues with Boeings and doors on the past. Last big one was 747 cargo door design. The intricate system that seemingly always had problems with that door style, were numerous and known.

The astronaut? Yessir :)

Oh man, don't even get me started on the irrational terror people have over flying in the most statistically safe air transport industry history has ever known.

Haha I was going to say, never had the pleasure to meet ya, but from what I gathered here, Id be surprised if you thought he was serious 😂

🫤🫤🫤🫤🫤 is all I have to say especially after todays updates.

To be quite honest, it seems like the FAA and others are making a political statement over this. Hopefully they realize that the one they are trying to penalize is not the various customers who are losing millions every day over this. Totally understand wanting to get it right, but I would think that an appropriate inspection of 4 bolts could have been agreed upon by now.

Not really referring to the door update.
