Oh Alaska/Boeing

How many DEI eligible candidates do you think are actually employed at an airplane factory in WICHITA KANSAS? Give me a f****** break!

No of course not, as he said it’s not a zero sum game.

Still, I find their focus on items out side of aviation safety to be on the extreme side.

You would think after the MCAS debacle they would have crossed the Ts (no pun intended) and dotted the i’s.

Clearly, they didn’t. And now we have yet another grounding.
Yes, the MCAS debacle should have been a wake up call for Boeing but it appears that they missed out on an opportunity to take a hard look in the mirror. But hey, at least 737s will continue to be dirt cheap. If this doesn’t light a fire under them I don’t know what will.

Google employee images of Spirit Aerosystems Wichita. It isn’t just a sea of white people.

The point is this. I’m not saying unqualified minorities messed up some bolts. What I am saying, is that Boeing focused on the wrong thing, and even made a financial motive for management / officials for DEI initiatives.

Given MCAS and the groundings, that should have been a wake up call for Boeing. Cash incentives for DEI? How about incentives for inspectors who can actually find loose bolts on the damn new fuselage?????

Now a blown plug door and ANOTHER grounding.

What will Boeing focus on? DEI? Or, will it be all hands on deck, and actually do their damn jobs and not have planes or plane parts falling out of the sky.

That’s the point.

It's pretty gross to blame a DEI campaign for an airplane accident.

Think of all the other reasons why process wizards have try-stormed around historically. I don't believe the Five Whys have ever landed on "we hired too diversely." Hell, any process that depends on exceptional talent will get swarmed to design that out.

Try working from the bottom-up here and think of how many reasons a bunch of door bolts did not hold a plug in place:

It is shameful to whole-cloth label minority groups as "insufficient."

I don’t think you understand what that means.
