Oh Alaska/Boeing

yeah apparently we take whatever thread we walk in to and don't comprehend other posts and just make it about ourselves and keep moving the Goalposts of Achievement instead

We had a guy who loved to buy airplanes on Ebay sight unseen, as they were "good deals"

One day he showed up in a Baron, which was odd because to our knowledge he had no multi rating...

He had flown it from Kentucky to California and proclaimed it was "the smoothest airplane he'd ever flown!"

11/12 cylinders failed compression and they all looked like yours.... but around the full circumference. Some of the gouges were like 1/8 inch deep.

Fortune favors the stupid.

Unfortunately our local story of “man without multiengine rating flies multiengine airplane” ended tragically.

I'm biased against crappy, unreliable sources of news.

It is absolutely stupid to use a source that is unreliable and untrustworthy, even if they are correct some times. Using that source requires you to double check that their source is legitimate, which is a complete waste of time. And just because they use a legitimate source for information in their story does not guarantee that they didn't change it, either.

I am not going to waste my time trying to figure out if DM is providing good information or not.

If anyone wants me, or anyone, to click a link in their post, they should use a trustworthy source.

Crap sources like DM will continue to be called out as sucky and unreliable, primarily so that other readers will be aware.

I don’t disagree with this given some of the issues we’ve had in the mil side.

Pretty sure if I went to Mesa to pick up an Apache right now I’d hear the Benny Hill theme coming from the building.

Frankly, it's much easier to fly a plane by reference to instruments with classic gauges then that large screen side tape nonsense. I would kill to have that display. Never liked the big screen with tapes and never will. I find it very poor for actual instrument flying.
There's a reason that we set the family airplane up with hybrid glass and gauges and it's not JUST because teaching a 60 year old a new scan is not a great idea :)

"Gee that looks like the 757" - everyone I show panel pictures to
Me: "Deliberately."

I really like a glass EADI/EHSI and conventional for the rest. A lot easier to quickly see a trend forming that way.

Flew with a guy who when I told him I was out of F’s to give, told me to hold on, reached into his bag, and handed me one of those.

I think he had been waiting for that moment for a long time.

@SteveC

Your assertion is incorrect, that they are correct “sometimes.” Dramatic much? And that you have to search other sources to make sure it’s real? No, you don’t - rarely is it incorrect. It’s the other way around, correct most of the times, once in a while, they get something wrong.
