I HAVE STRONG OPINIONS ABOUT AUTOMOTIVE LIGHTING!
Got them heterichromia DCUs going there.
yeahThat seems flippant but you should be aware pilots are not the only folks expected to make flying contraptions work properly in the middle of the night. I used to work as a mobile tech, I didn't graduate into it, I was somehow upgraded into it and I hated it. Yes I might be able to figure out how to make your flying palace operate but I'd rather not do it in the middle of the night so someone can see their second cousins grandson graduate from community college the next day and then cancel the flight because they were drunk and now they're hungover and want to stay in bed and fart through silk sheets as they sleep it off. I've worked enough on call to realize I'll never do it again. When you work your ass off all the way through the night to make sure an airplane is safe and airworthy and once you present your shiny jet to the powers that be in the early morning hours and they say "Thanks, but we figured out something else." Crestfallen is the word that comes to mind. I love airplanes, I don't like the majority of people attempting to profit from them.
It's the internet, there are no take backs. It is permanent.
You're right. I only worked in a T-hangar nights and weekends when I wasn't actually working my full time job as an A/P. I did it for free because I thought it was awesome and I loved most of my team mates. You might've seen it...yeah
not really the same thing as getting a T hangar and working on someone's airplane to make money and keep the skills up while you're already sitting around on the clock when otherwise you'd be staring at the wall in a crashpad

What’s funny is I remember those from being a kid riding in the back of the -300s around the west coast, so I don’t think it was just one airplane. I’m not sure why they did that? Considering they also disabled VNAV and autothrottles, maybe it’s because one is the cheap one the other is the expensive one?Got them heterichromia DCUs going there.
It's because when they were delivered SWA removed one of them, Boeing wouldn't let them take both out, so they could fly it like a -200. VOR/LOC only no LNAV back then. When they finally went to ACARS they added a MCDU to the (generally) right side, the old CDU on the left stayed. What’s funny is I remember those from being a kid riding in the back of the -300s around the west coast, so I don’t think it was just one airplane. Yes. That's Phoenix 1995 or '96. The handsome dude in the cockpit is yours truly. When I got involved I was still in A/P school and the first time I saw that airplane was in late '92 or early '93 and it was a mess. The engine broke in '92 just a year after the fastest air race ever. The powers that were decided that rather than replacing the engine and flying it home it would come home on a truck. Problem is you can't remove the wings on a Bearcat, so they split the fuselage right behind the cockpit. As a young inexperienced airplane person potentially interviewing for some sort of job to gain experience I can recall being asked what was my specialty. I was honest and said I didn't know my ass from my dick and I was just looking to get some sort of experience. That made the guy behind the desk smile and he led me out behind the hangar and there was a sort of green/orange/white jalopy sitting back there in the rain. I was immediately enamored, if I had a brain in my head I would've walked away at that point but I didn't. We rebuilt that airplane almost from the ground up and then went racing and won. Am I a loser for wasting all of that time? Maybe, how many other people do you know that can honestly say they stayed up all night on the ramp at Reno changing cylinders? I once worked something like 21 hours straight up there and someone grabbed me and tossed me into a truck and forced me back into my hotel room to get some sleep. 6 hours later I was back on the ramp. I did all of that for free because aviation was fun.Lol are you for real? My god.
Tell me your story stumbler.Cool story bro.
idk like a dozenhow many other people do you know that can honestly say they stayed up all night on the ramp at Reno changing cylinders?
Did you need a ladder? No you didn't and that's okay. I'm not discounting anyones experience, I'm celebrating it. If you were there you know, if you weren't than your criticism falls on deaf ears. Never worked on a small engine, enlighten me.
Panic!
