Re: **Official "Not Until Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2010)" Thre

Got the call today! I accepted a redirect from MKE to EVV, and was told that I'm being bumped up to FY 2010, so she said I'll be going to training no later than September. It's a big change from MKE (which is where I live right now with my wife) but it's too great an opportunity to pass up. I just have to get my medical back up to date again (it expires at the end of this month I believe).

Major woot!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news... so I wont bear any haha... but ill tell you that I got a redirect last August and I'm still waiting... anything West Coast is super slow. But I hope it happens soon for all of us! BTW where is POC? Not Pocatello ID is it?

POC is brackett airport in la verne.. i think its a vfr tower. thats the area im from...but i got sent to east coast

Re: **Official "Not Until Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2010)" Thre

How did you find out about the openings? Did your rep tell you that information, or did it come from the facility manager?

Yeah I got the call from an HR person. It wasn't my usual rep, R.A. Instead it was a lady person, A.Q. I had been holding out for LGB when they offered me redirects in the past so that I could stay close to home. I always tried to get info out of R.A. about how long they thought it would take for LGB to open up, but could never get a straight answer. A.Q. was pretty straight forward with me, which was cool...and she offered me better choices for redirects this time (2/3 that she had were close by).

I don't know how familiar you are with the area, but in my opinion, you just added ten years to your life by switching. Not only did you reduce your stress by no longer having five intersecting runways and a million foreign student pilots, but you won't have to record 10-minute long ATIS reports either!

Nice. I went for a tour of the tower and did a demo flight out of LGB just to get a feel for it, and I know exactly what you mean about the runways and international student pilots. :laff: Glad to have a second opinion that supports my decision though.

I guess things have changed. Last month I was told that they weren't doing redirects b/c everywhere had so many people to TOL's waiting to get class dates. This process just keeps you guessing.

If you want a few more, they just had a thread recently in the General forum about some well-known grumpy controller in LGB. Legendarily bad.

Nice! Glad you finally got the call! I guess no one is going to MKE for a while since they are sending all of us to IN!!! Hope you hear something soon!

Congrats to those who have been getting class dates recently. One question. Did any of your medical beside the drug test expire? Do they require you to retake anything if it has been over a year since your medical clearences were in?

My medical expires in a day or so. E.M. told me that when they get a class date for me, she'll have me redo my physical. From what I understand, you have to redo everything from the medical side of things (physical, eye and hearing/MMPI, etc.). I'd like to not have to do the MMPI again because it's a pain, but it is what it is.

I just hope the next time I do the hearing test I'm in a room by myself. When I did one at the PEPC, somebody finished there's early and the high pitched sound it was making threw me off of my right ear portion of the test.

Yup. You gotta retake everything, accept the EKG. I recently had to redo all mine and I thought they had me do it because they had a class date for me.... however, I still don't have a date. not sure whats up. But I don't want to bug HR anymore than I already have.

Got an email today from a new rep (E.M.). I guess S.F. had enough, or maybe they're consolidating -- I've seen others reference E.M. previously.

No new class dates in the West until FY2011, according to the email.

I just got an e-mail* from our new rep, A.Q., who is taking over the Central Service Area for terminal positions. E.M. was our former rep, and we had B.R. before that. It feels very strange to go through three HR reps during one application process, but hey, if it gets me in sooner, let's keep the rotation going! :insane:

*Note - e-mail was nothing more than the rep introducing herself. No class dates here; we're to give her a few weeks to get settled into the new position/region before she'll know what's going on with all of our facilities.

Re: **Official "Not Until Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2010)" Thre

That's awesome, congrats! But isn't GCN part of the Western region?

Ya it is western region. It seems like they had an opening from last fall but the way the housing works there, because its a remote location, they cannot bring anyone in unless there is housing available. So just recently was housing available for me. My Hr. Rep told me its $200, either monthly or per paycheck... which is pretty cool. very inexpensive.

Hey Congrats on the class date! I'll still be here when you get here. Let me know if you have any questions about things here. (I dont have it all figured out as of yet, but its getting better).
