Re: **Official "Not Until Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2010)" Thre

Does the FAA have any idea what is going on at all?

They do, indeed. Especially where it concerns screwing over employees. On the other hand, they're not so good at things that involve logical thought processes.

Jesus.....that would be the most horrible gut punch ever. Man....

For what its worth, my e-mail reply said kicked in the teeth. I guess after 20 years working with the Govt. I understand mistakes happen, I was over it the next day.

20 years? So... you started before you were 11?

I think you are getting at the whole age 31 cut off?

Under the RMC (Retired Military Controller) announcements, you do not worry about the age 31 cut off obviously since you would be over 31 when you retire from the military. You are only hired to 5 year appointments and get no federal retirement...just your TSP.

Wow Congrats DK!

Is this the first you heard of it? I got news today too....

In the form of an email saying that there were discrepancies between my blood pressure test from this year and last year since last year my blood pressure was high and when I recently retook my med clearances this year it was normal. Anyways, there is more to the story but I wont get into it. Basically the FAA doctor had me write out a statement explaining everything, and he will decide if the statement is good enough, otherwise I'll have to go back to the doctor for some more blood pressure readings. But, Im hoping that if he finalizes my clearances maybe I can get squeezed into that April 7th class! Or whichever is the tower class around there. It seems like they're trying to get me movin pretty quick here... we'll see.

Congrats!

South Bend is a hole in the ground, but I'm sure you'll be happy to finally be in the tower controlling traffic.

Thanks! Yeah the area could be better, but it could be worse. Just happy to get started.

Re: **Official "Not Until Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2010)" Thre

I would suggest living in Niles, Michigan, just across the state line. It's a lot better than South Bend itself.

Re: **Official "Not Until Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2010)" Thre

Today I have caught a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel, and I am so excited. I accepted a redirect from LGB to POC today, which means that I will be able to go to the academy next fiscal year for sure.

I got my original TOL for LGB in January of 2009, but of course LGB had it's hiring numbers reduced to zero, so I have been waiting for 14 months now. I know I still have a while to wait until next fiscal year, but I still take this as great news.

By the way, for anybody else who might have a TOL for LGB, I was told today it would be another 2-3 years before they expect to have any openings at that airport.

I'm excited!

I don't know how familiar you are with the area, but in my opinion, you just added ten years to your life by switching. Not only did you reduce your stress by no longer having five intersecting runways and a million foreign student pilots, but you won't have to record 10-minute long ATIS reports either!

I swear sometimes you had to get the LGB ATIS before exiting the corridor coming from SMO or you wouldn't have time to call tower before arriving.

Good heavens! I'm almost wondering if that's what will end up happening with my airport, since it's a regional airport that handles mostly business traffic. They're also a couple of levels below the main airport in the city, and I know of at least one person that washed out of Lambert only to get sent to my airport... which is a little worrisome.

How did you find out about the openings? Did your rep tell you that information, or did it come from the facility manager?

Re: **Official "Not Until Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2010)" Thre

I too received a phone call today, she asked me if I was interested in a redirect from ICT to RVS. I was told that I will be in class as soon as May of this year. ...Still hope for everybody, One less in your way!!!

Re: **Official "Not Until Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2010)" Thre

I hate to be the bearer of bad news... so I wont bear any haha... but ill tell you that I got a redirect last August and I'm still waiting... anything West Coast is super slow. But I hope it happens soon for all of us! BTW where is POC? Not Pocatello ID is it?
