Non-revving in First, and Facebook

I wish I were still in college and knew it all. Alas, I am not, and hence I have nothing more to contribute.

I don't know a lot, that I admit. That's why I am here, I love to read and learn what I can from those that are in the professions.

I see your point I do, but think about it this way. That non-flight crew member probably doesn't use, nor does he get to use those non-rev privileges nearly as much as that flight crew member does for one. Whether that flight-crew member has to all the time for commuting or not, it's a privilege he uses all the time clearly in this case. Not to mention, sometimes you just have to be a little selfish or you won't get anywhere if you just let people jump you on sympathy.. If you're always holding the door open for others all the day, when do you get to go in? Plus it seems like you said it was the non-flight crew members own equipment, so why should he get bumped by a regional or whatever the flight crew member belonged to if it wasn't that airline?

Yes, well you know the phrase "Nice guys finish last"? Well, good luck being the door man while everyone walks by you. A wise man once told me that commuting is a contact sport and don't ever let your guard down.

That story wasn't my experience so I don't have the exact details, and the story teller didn't have all the answers either which is why he took a later flight home. However it does show the pitfalls of commuting. Any number of external factors can affect your ride home.

Absolutely. Commuting sounds rough. One member on here told me he was commuting from DFW to LGA as a Station Agent. He was working two 16hr shifts, an 8 hr shift, then heading back home. That had to have been awful.

I can also understand why the pilot was frustrated, but sounds very professional that he apparently kept his cool when he easily could have gotten frustrated. In all fairness, the non-crew member should have probably had the decency to say "Go ahead man", but that's for another conversation.

You guys are taking this far, far too personally.

Reason #413 why mandatory use of Cannabis should be mandated when free of duty for more than 48 hours.

Agreed.

For some here.................

Oh look, another self-entitled person.

Yes, that's exactly how I would describe someone who thinks he's entitled to the flight benefits that pilots get without doing the work that pilots do to get where they are.

but sadly then we have guys like you who think that anyone who works in aviation and isn't a pilot is beneath them.

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. I've marched in picket lines for employees in other employee groups. I don't think anyone is "beneath" me. But as @dasleben said, all jobs are not equal. A ramper doesn't deserve the salary that I get, nor the benefits package. If you want that compensation package, then you know how to get it.

list for a 5am to BNA sick on 2 hours of sleep only to be stuck at BNA finally getting on flight number 5 8hrs later

Thanks for flying sick voluntarily when you have more travel flexibility and zero cancellation fees to worry about compared to everyone else on the plane.

Sick passengers are part of the reason why I throw any trip with a deadhead out of my monthly PBS bid entirely, unless the deadhead is real short and the rest of the trip is something amazing.

Amen. It's a rare deadhead in coach when I don't end up sick within 48 hours after.

Haha wow, you are clueless aren't you? Do you really think that your job would be anything like it is without those guys who load the planes, deals with reservations etc etc? The pilots need those people just as much as those people need the pilots.

Nobody is saying the salary should be comparable, and they aren't one bit. Yes pilots in regionals and below get shafted in pay, but those that work for the big guys make damn good money. Part of the recent the flight benefits exist for both is because it's an incentive for people to stick with being a ramp agent, ticket agent etc. Had everyone quit and decided to become a pilot, down goes pilot wages, down goes job availability etc. So be glad some people choose not to be a pilot you self-entitled jerk.

Sounds like the FAA's screening process is doing a good job of weeding out the bad apples. I'll have to send them a thank you note for that.

Didn't weed out anything. I could still very well do ATC. This comment right there is why your an unprofessional tool. I really hope someday I can use my flight benefits and knock your high and mighty self off a flight. Maybe I will send you a thank you note.

You going to tell me you never got up before feeling groggy and got on a flight, then a little later realized you were getting sick? I didn't have much choice anyhow, I was with my buddy whose dad is a SWA pilot, and we had to get back home.

I'm done with this troll. To the ignore list with you!

I'm a troll? Because last time I checked you were the one who started it acting all high and mighty and ticked off. Yeah that's what I thought. You're a waste of my time anyhow and worthless to me. Don't need to hear from you anyhow. Pick a fight and run, what a surprise.
